You are misremembering the US version. It's the only version I saw and there were clearly intestines plopping to the floor.
Oops, sorry about that! I think I was nearly traumatized by seeing such a violent scene the first time around and successfully blocked it out of my memory. ;)

OK, let me try another scene. The Japanese version shows all the details of the split open torso of the yakuza boss after the young O-ren slices him open (in the anime sequence). The US version doesn't show that, right? I just wanted to make sure because now I'm getting worried about my memory. Oh, and I know that there is definitely an extra "slice and dice" done to Ms. Fatale. At any rate, I guess that all the additional red blood in the House of Blue Leaves fight scene would probably get the film an NC17 as well.

has there been any official word in reguards to the QT-rumored box set?? or unified movie for release on dvd. i know QT him self said he would like to do a final release with the two seperate volumes combined into one film, but i dont belive he has the final say in the matter.

Here's to hoping for a great 2-disc set with DTS, deleted scenes, and the trailers (if this doesn't have the film's trailers, I'll be extremely disappointed).

Last I heard, the plan was vol 1 normal, vol 2 normal and a two disc set after.

Pretty sure they announced a special edition for 1, but no specs ... Quentin said he was going to do special editions for the first two, some undetermined release after that, and possibly a third (fourth?) even after the second release. In other words, I don't think the first discs that come out are going to be movie-only.
