dvd coverart site down?

I have not been able to get onto the site since 12:00 last night anybody else having problems with the site today?

Commander Dan 12-20-03 11:45 PM

I tried to access the site this evening and also could not get on. I came here to see if anyone knows what’s going on…

Anyone, anyone…?

Site problems..

Last night the server was rebooted by Shaun, the dv-depot.com IT guy. He said that he would rebuild the server sometime today. As far as I can tell, not even the admins (myself being one of them) can access the site. It seems to be a DNS related issue.

regent 12-21-03 10:17 AM

thanks for the info Sosai x

mdX 12-22-03 12:21 PM

it was a DNS issue that affected some people and not others. I never had a problem accessing the site, but I seem to be in the minority.

everything should be back to normal now though

Vic Venom 12-22-03 12:43 PM

Nope, I still can't get on. I could for a few hours last night, but not now

regent 12-22-03 06:18 PM

I was able to acces it from work but still can't get on at home

Rogue588 12-23-03 01:15 AM

workin' fine here..

Vic Venom 12-24-03 03:45 AM

Any update on if or when this little DNS issue is going to be resolved? Or are the people who can't logon anymore just SOL.

Sosai X 12-24-03 07:52 AM

UP

I've been approving new covers all night long....

sotie 12-24-03 11:43 AM

DOWN

I still can't get on as of now.

Vanth Dreadstar 12-24-03 04:51 PM

Down...Down I Say!

the site is still down for me also.

DarthVong 12-24-03 08:52 PM

Odd, it works for me. Try clearing your cache and then refreshing.

Vanth Dreadstar 12-24-03 09:25 PM

try this

I cleared my cache and cookies and still couldn't connect.
I could by using this though...http://207.44.184.122/dvdcoverart/
DNS is still fubar methinks.

login and registration is still pointing to the DNS name and not the IP address I believe too. Can't login there. I can browse files but not login.

Michael Corvin 12-25-03 12:07 AM

Thanks much for the other link.

Vanth Dreadstar 12-26-03 11:50 AM

here's the deal

Whatever ISP you are on is still pointing its DNS settings to the old dvdcoverart. It depends on the service but the maximum TTL before the DNS server goes out and says 'oh look its different now' is 6 days. Some are set to 6 hours, 30 seconds, whatever. So if you can't reach it, it might take 6 days for the new info to get into your ISP's DNS.

Michael Corvin 12-26-03 12:14 PM

Damn. That sucks. I have a bunch of new covers to u/l. Can't do it if I can't log in.

<----- Mac user, can't try the above mentioned method.

JJE-187 12-26-03 02:27 PM

Don't feel bad Micheal, I'm on a webTV and I can only access through the ISP addy. And the way webTV is it might take 6 months to update. Good thing I only look at the pretty pictures :)

Michael Corvin 12-28-03 04:05 PM

Sunday night and still nothin'. This sucks.

regent 12-28-03 04:18 PM

temp fix as posted

this is the temp fix as posted on the dvdcoverart forum, that will allow logon's. go back later and delete the hosts file entry.

Open:

windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts(you will need to open the hosts file with notepad or something)

Then, add the following line...

207.44.184.122 www.dvdcoverart.com

Save the file, open a new browser window and go to www.dvdcoverart.com.

as stated this is a copy of the fix off of the dvdcoverart forum for those that have isp's that have not updated yet.

rayovac 01-01-04 01:50 PM

Just on and working fine too bad they don't have the covers I still need, Matt's message on not accepting credits cards and we'll have something new is wearing a bit thin IMHO

I want nothing to do with Pay pal they are notorius for coming back in a year and trying to recharge you, but not anymore I canceled their service.

johnf14 01-01-04 05:24 PM

I've been using PayPal for about 3 years now and have NEVER been recharged for anything. In fact I also use a 'PayPal/Mastercard Debit Card' and the 'cash back program' saves me an extra couple bucks on each of my weekly DVD orders.

I have never heard any such complaint before, from any source, so just how NOTORIOUS can it be???

By the way, PayPal is now owned by eBay.

Michael Corvin 02-04-04 11:44 PM

is it down again?

Commander Dan 02-13-04 03:39 PM

Is it down yet again? As of 3:30 pm CST I cannot access the site.

EDIT: O.K. As of 3:45, I can now access the site.
