Stripes: SE Coming...with bonus footage!
Don't know the release date, but this quote is from the interview with Michael Gillis of MogoMedia (who just did Escape From New York: SE) over at The Digital Bits:
Recently through Columbia TriStar, we just completed a Stripes special edition that includes never-before-seen footage, including an entire missing reel.

Well that only took about 2 or so years since it was first announced!
Thanks for the info! Now I can finally buy this movie!
"We're all very different people. We're not Watusi, we're not Spartans, we're Americans! With a capital "A," huh? And you know what that means? Do you? That means that our forefathers were kicked out of every decent country in the world!"

An entire missing *reel*?!?
Just think of the hidden greatness that must be waiting for us.
(Just where has this reel been? In Saddam's rat hole?)
"No, we're not homosexual. But we're willing to learn."

"Lighten up, Francis."
I have no idea if this is involved, so don't get too excited, but...I have seen a still from a scene, obviously deleted, of Bill Murray and P.J. Soles in (an apparently somewhat comical) embrace, with her pert li'l breasts prominently visible.
This isn't an urban legend and I didn't imagine it, it was in Playboy in one of their year end features, either Sex Stars of 1981 or (more likely) Sex in Cinema.

Great news. I've been very close to picking up the current version on several occasions.

that would be wrong.
like the Jerk, there's footage from the "broadcast TV" showing that's missing [some of it was seen during the documentary].
I'm sure there was more too..

Huh.
I'm still waiting for someone to shoot me down, because this is obviously old news, or there's an existing thread that already covered this, or something.
I've been actively posting here for four years, and was a lurker before that, and I believe that this is the first thread I've ever posted that was able to impart information about a forthcoming release.
This is truly an important moment for myself and everyone in the evenswr family. The Stripes Special Edition DVD, if and when it ever gets released, will always occupy a special place in my heart.

"Barnecky? Barnecky! He owes me money!"
Excellent news! I've been holding off on buying the regular version for soooo long now. I can't tell you how many times I held that DVD in my hands, then shook my head sadly and put it back...
