no box set of the star wars movies?
crap.
from the digitalbits.com, which linked to some site... Just following up information to your stories about the Classic Trilogy on DVD; our upcoming releases bulletin lists Star Wars: A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi as being released by 20th Century Fox on November 4th, 2004. This information came to us via FOX themselves, so it's 99% reliable. One other note, prices won't be known for sure until approximately 3 months before release. And as of today they're listed as separate releases; there's no Star Wars trilogy box set listed though it will be released, presumably. I thought it was interesting as Indy isn't available separately. |
Why crap? Separate releases is a good thing, as it gives people a choice. I'm sure they'll be available at a discount for all three (actually, as it even says in the article, they'll probably be released in a set as well).
Well, i'd rather have seperate two-disc versions, than one four-disc set. A box would be nice, but that would kinda hurt the first two episodes' feelings wouldnt it? :)
I'd prefer a box set. I'm sure there a few odd balls that only want Empire, but not as many as with something like the Alien series where many only wanted the first 2. I mean SW is really one long movie, where as stuff like the Alien series are just a group of stand alone movies with the same characters.

Well, all the ROTJ haters are gonna be happy.
my guess is that lucas will wait until all 6 movies are out on dvd, then make a box set of the entire series. i'd be happy to buy the original trilogy separately, then wait for a complete box set later.
unfortunately i hear that the orig trilogy will be released only with the extra CGI footage. :( that makes me cry. |
Good. I like the first and last one, but the middle one where Luke fights the snowman guy is lame.
Hey Frosty put up a good fight! lol
They should have a mail in offer or something where you can purchase a box that will fit all 6 dvds in there, that would prob be the best idea. |

I don't care. They're coming and I'm buying!

I wish they would release both versions...
I wonder if these will be the special editions or the rumored super duper editions?
I dont like the idea of them releasing them seperately! Its a Trilogy and they should all be watched together...how can you own ESB and not own ROTJ...its stupid!

I don't really care if there will be a box set or not to hold the individual releases, as long as Fox is not coming up with a trilogy digipack like Alien Quadrilogy!
I was considering picking these up, but since they're apparently being released on a Thursday instead of a Tuesday, like most DVDs (excluding Friday releases), I've decided to boycott this release. I am sick of Lucas thinking he can just decide to release a movie on a Thursday that isn't Christmas!! First Episode II and now the Original Trilogy DVDs?! Enough is ENOUGH!

Anyone who thinks this will be the only release incarnation of these movies on dvd needs a lesson in the VHS history of the trilogy. You're going to have so many packaging and repackaging of these you'll need to rent a storage garage.
I usually go for the box set. However, if there is a choice between 3 - 2 disc Special Editions, or a 4 disc box set... I'm going for the 3 - 2 disc. I just can't see something like that ever happening. I agree with the other statements though........ They are coming & I am buying!!!!!!!
Probably gonna see separate and a box set of these flicks.
