La Dolce Vita! Criterion? Somebody?
Why isn't Fellini's most famous film not on an acceptable DVD yet (it's only on a non-optionally subtitled region 2 disc)? Anyone know if Criterion, how transferred his Amarcord and 8 1/2 is working on this one?

I believe they already have. Unless I'm confusing it with another movie. This is the one with Anthony Quinn and Caberia, right?

No, La Dolce vita is being released by Koch Lorber--they're projecting a release date of Summer, 2004.
See this recent thread for details.
killbot-5, I believe you're thinking of La Strada, which Criterion released just a couple of weeks ago (it stars Anthony Quinn and Fellini's then-wife, Giulietta Masina--who also portayed the prostitute Cabiria in several films, though not this one).

D'oh. Right. La Strada. I confused the title with La Strada.
But then you confused me with killbot-5, so he can take the rap. ha ha. I triumph again.

Let's just keep our fingers crossed that Koch Lorber doesn't
a) screw up the release
b) go belly up before the release
c) hold the rights until judgement day and never release the dvd
If option b occurs, perhaps there is a prayer we'll see a Criterion release, which would be best. Hopefully there is a quality release, sooner rather than later.
