Have you tried Amazon? Some of those like American Splendor, The Cooler, The Station Agent, and Big Fish aren't out yet. Big Fish isn't even out in theaters yet, but a lot of those can be found with a simple search through amazon.com

Well, a lot of your list (Cooler, Pearl Erring etc) haven't even had releases to speak of yet! A few of the others, like Dirty Pretty Things and City of God, are out in other regions already. A few of them, like Whale Rider and Russian Ark, are already out on DVD in America! But most of these you'll just have to wait for.

That's all the titles I found using 'search'- any that I missed? Also, if any of you guys have any strong opinions on any of these titles, please post- Are these some of the best recent indy movies out there? I'm tired of all this hollywood junk; so Im planning to clear out my dvd collection and start from scratch again. Some of these titles are the best movies I've seen in my life (station agent, city of god)...others i dont know about, and was simply recommended them.

Region 1:

Friday Night (Vendredi soir)

If you are able to play Region 2 PAL (and if not, why not?), you have some other options:

Ten (Kiarostami)
Etre et avoir
In This World
City of God (UK release) --Amazon UK is cheapest if you live in the US, since they don't charge VAT. US release from Miramax scheduled for 2/17/04. I own it & recommend it.
Aki Kaurismški Box Set (includes The Man Without a Past + 4 earlier films)--I own it--highly recommended

Not yet released:

Yossi and Jagger (Strand Releasing)
To Be and To Have (Etre et avoir) (New Yorker)
Bus 174 (‘nibus 174) (ThinkFilm)
Shattered Glass (Lion's Gate)
The Piano Player (Gloomy Sunday) is available in Germany, but doesn't appear to have English subs
The Station Agent (Miramax)
The Barbarian Invasions (Miramax)
Elephant (New Line/Fine Line)

Or maybe a Bargian is someone who's caught their significant other in bed with someone else...?
