Missing Dialogue in Pirates DVD

I've noticed two scenes or moments in Pirates of the Caribbean that were in the theater version but are not present in the DVD. One is the second Sparrow one-word explanation for his behavior where he simply says “Pirate” and the other is the fast-paced reunion dialogue “Will!”, “Elizabeth!”, “Monkey!”.

The latter was one of my favorite bits. It is even listed in the memorable quotes section of IMDB. This stuff drives me crazy.

Can you actually give us some times so we can confirm these?

If so, that sucks--those were funny bits. And there's no reason at all to edit them.

The "Pirate" line is there when he's dueling Will in the Blacksmith shop, unless there was another one (which I don't recall). I don't remember the 2nd line you mentioned when I saw it at the theater.

Neither do I. I remember this being used just once, during the duel. If it had been used a second time, it would have killed the joke, I think.

I saw the movie twice in the theater and I don't remember the “Will!," “Elizabeth!,” “Monkey!” line

I saw this movie last night, really good stuff.
Johnny Depp does say "Pirate" though. I laughed pretty hard at that part. I'm pretty sure the other one is inthere too, but I can't be sure. I am positive the "Pirate" line is in there.

I'm sure the Will, Eliabeth, Monkey line is in there because I never saw it in the theater and I remember it. It's right when the two ships come together later in the movie, Will is trapped in the hold, and the monkey runs across from one ship to the other and Depp follows him walking across the plank like a monkey.

Uh, heh heh, memory, yeah, funny thing memory.

Nemein is right on. The sequence starts at 1:29:19. It does follow the flow of Will/Elizabeth/Monkey. In my memory, I had it as being a rapid fire sequence whereas it is actually more drawn out.

I could swear there was another "Pirate", the first being in the blacksmith shop to Will and the second being to Elizabeth later. But considering . . . .

Saw the movie twice in the theaters and "Pirate" is my favorite Depp quip in the flick. It only occurs once.

Sounds like the "Shrek! Fiona! Donkey!" bit in the Shrek 2 trailer.

This is why one must always ask for specifics.

I wish people would not do this.

If you are going to post "errors" like this, make bloody sure you know what you are talking about.

Some people will cancel their orders based on posts like this. Not me personally, but one chap above obviously took it as gospel.

It's easy to be mistaken when watching movies months later - you imagine you have seen certain things (the infamous I-saw-the-knife-actually-breaking-skin-in-psycho-shower-scene-therefore-they-have-censored-it is a classic example). And it is possible you could be thinking of lines from the trailer that may not have been in the movie.

But the "Pirate" line is definitely there. I never saw the movie in the cinema, but have watched it twice on DVD. So the original poster is most definitely wrong on that one.

Not sure about the second line myself, but others seem to confirm it's existence.

Just be sure of your information when makining posts like this...worlds turn on such things...

I'm pretty sure El-Kabong was joking when he said that. But it does bring up a good point not to go into hysterics because something you thought you saw at the theater "may not" have made it into the DVD release.

Hmmm. I was obviously not concentrating when I read El Kabongs post - that went right over my head. Too subtle for me, dude.

But seriously, if we anyone out there thinks there is a problem with a disc in any way, they would be better to begin their posts with something like "Has anyone else noticed...?", or "Can anyone else confirm..?", or even "Pirates missing dialogue?"

We need to get our facts straight before we start jumping up and down.
