Tip - Bypassing DVD Ads and "Forced Trailers"

I haven't seen this posted in a while and since there are many new DVD users/members here I thought I would share a tip on avoiding ads and trailers and the like that are "forced" on the user when they first play a DVD. By forced I mean that the skip or FF functions are disabled. Even if the skip function is not disabled, some (like Disney products) could have you skipping several ads before getting to the product you purchased.

This just came up again, as the new Alias 2 dvd seems to contain some spoilers (at the get-go).

So, what to do?

Press the stop button and then hit the play button.

This will take you directly to the menu option screen.

I don't know that this works on all DVD players or DVDs. But it certainly works for many of us that have been around for a while on the main culprits like Disney and Universal DVDs (to name a couple).

I wish I knew the DVDtalk poster that brought this to my attention originally - but I'm just passing it along.

Hope this helps.

It was Mr. Salty . . . he's very smart . . .

And BTW . . . it works like a charm too . . . I used it on The Hulk DVD the other day (except I pressed the "Menu" button instead of the "Play" button).

I've noticed with Disney ones, pressing menu goes straight to the menu, no need to press stop.
