From what I understand, the only part that was left out was Walt talking about his appreciation of Song of the South ... -ptth-

Re: Di$ney does it again...Pirates Of the Caribbean -- Censored!
A portion?? A PORTION!?!! What, they couldn't get the rights to the ENTIRE thing?!?! How DARE they censor the original broadcast!! to suppress publications or excise any matter in them thought to be immoral, seditious or otherwise undesirable It is not censoring in this case, it is called EDITING. There is a huge difference. |
I could care less as I am waiting for the das Boot edition.

It's funny seeing half the people take the jokes seriously :)

I wish they had provided a non-anamorphic widescreen version instead; the downconversion artifacts are horrific on this disc.
|
I really hope that the full version is on a the Tomoroland Treasures DVD.

Looks like I'll be holding onto my laserdisc.

It's editing, not censorship.
This is not a free speech issue. |
I guess I won't throw away my "Pirates of the Caribbean" betamax version yet.
WHY CAN'T THEY GIVE US THE FULL PRODUCT? Oh, just terrible. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I'm boycotting this di$c!!!! |
gay means happy. i get so sick of people not understanding it's meaning.
queer means stranger or different. i get so sick of people not understanding it's meaning. cenorship means the government by law supresses something. this will never change just like the meanings of the words above and just like every other word in the english language. meanings of words do not change. |
gay: adjective inflected forms: gay·er, gay·est 1. of, relating to, or having a sexual orientation to persons of the same sex. 2. showing or characterized by cheerfulness and lighthearted excitement; merry. 3. bright or lively, especially in color: a gay, sunny room. 4. given to social pleasures. 5. dissolute; licentious. noun 1. a person whose sexual orientation is to persons of the same sex. 2. a man whose sexual orientation is to men: an alliance of gays and lesbians. etymology middle english gai, lighthearted, brightly colored, from old french, possibly of germanic origin. Meanings definitely change.

You know, when Christian Slater wears those big, bulky gold rim glasses in True Romance, he really does kind of look like Elvis . . .

Originally posted by talemyn You know, when Christian Slater wears those big, bulky gold rim glasses in True Romance, he really does kind of look like Elvis . . . lol, maybe you're watching true romance atm? i'm watching on HBO atm. anyway, yes my point was that the meanings of words change, or atleast get other meaning added. it just annoys me when some posters have to bring up that whatever at hand is not cencorship as no one forces a studio to do anything. i don't know why this is such a hardline for not allowing censorship to adapt. take eyes wide shut for example. i say the figures added to the film censor the original orgy scenes. therefore the film is censored. warner did not have outside or government pressure placed on them to do such, therefore they did it on their own, to some that means the film wasn't censored. i say what's the difference? the fact remains the movie was censored, i don't really care about it being internal or external. self censorship is still censorship when they don't give us means to see what was fully intened in the first place. |
Wow, you've got some serious issues you need to work out, at least there's part of it on there.
Disney could have gone to the extreme and taken the whole thing off, so count you blessings and enjoy what you have! |
Originally posted by majorjoe23 I clearly remember some full frontal nudity in the theatrical version, and it's not on my DVD. It's the scene where Keira Knightly is changing in front of Johnny Depp at the pool, and Depp pretends he's catatonic. |

It's almost like the difference between being murdered and being killed . . . murder always involves malicious intent from an outside source . . . killing might, but it is not always the case. For example, saying "He was murdered by a falling rock" doesn't make sense (no intent), while "He was killed by a falling rock" does. Whereas if it was a mugging, saying either "The mugger robbed and killed the man" or "The mugger robbed and murdered the man" is appropriate. Just as "Murder" is a type of "Killing" that requires intent, "Censorship" is a kind of "Editting" that requires external pressure or intervention. |
