Has your DVD obsession ever been a 'problem'?

Have your loved ones ever questioned your purchasing decisions? Your mental health? My fam used to question me but I calmly reassured them that I wasn't buying crack.

My family were kinda bummed that I wasn't buying crack.

Considering I'd rather spend my not-too-hard-earned money on DVDs than clothes and sometimes food... yeah, I'd say it's a problem. I own too many DVDs for my budget, age, job, etc. It's a problem now, but I'd much rather have DVDs than any of the other stuff people spend disposable income on.

Once I got started collecting, yeah it became troublesome, but now it is tapering off, as I have gotten most of my MUST HAVE list, and things are finally settling down. This fall saw the release of many of my wanted items. November was partricularly maddening. OVER $300 in 1 week!? I can honestly say to be prudent, I should never have spent what I have on the movies, but now they are on my shelves, and I am a happy camper. The joys I have gained building my collection have made up for a lot of troubling times lately, especially with the job market , getting laid off, going back to work at a very big cut in pay. Overall the worst is behind me. I am sure many are feeling that way right now.

Here's hoping the market continues to improve, and better jobs come along.

I have been known to ask myself why I buy things that I don't really want and may never watch again. Or why I buy 20 dvds in a month and watch only 2. Oh well.

the only problem is that Modern Problems is not yet on dvd.

or...it's a problem when I've limited myself to 10 dvds a week. I feel guilty if I buy 11. then I buy 4 more just to piss myself off. on saturday morning...it's all good baby. so no problem...I guess.

my wife says...."as long as yer happy, honey. and pay bills and taxes first." she's one-of-a-kind.

It's not a big problem, if I do not have the money to buy DVD's I rent them. The more I rent the less I am buying these day's.Now I have a huge collection in my home, which I never get to watch more than 2 times. So that's a small problem.

I once burned my house down so that I could collect the insurance in order to buy every version of THE EVIL DEAD and its sequels. But other than that I've been pretty good about keeping a certain limit on my DVD spending.

I've spent roughly $20,000...people always say to me..."You could have bought a college education. You could have bought a real nice new car. You could have put a down payment on a house." And do all such questions I say: "But I wouldnt have all these movies."

The only problem i have is running out of storage space (actually, that ship has sailed and sunk). Thanks to the recent DDD coup(s), i and my bank account may never recover.

, QuiGonJosh. i get a lot of that too. Sometimes i tell them, "Hey, it was either this or crystal meth."

No, I only buy within my budget. I just need more storage space.

In context of the times the major problem I've encountered is trying to think of non-DVD gifts for people who aren't really into them

Especially since Best Buy doesn't open until 10am

It has been a problem on occasion with buying too many DVDs at one time. I probably could've waited but what the hell. The main problem right now is that my unwatched list gets longer. But I'm trying real hard to knock it down in submission.
