You are right
You're right about the goodtimes and they live and prince of darkness, and you are also right about Gone With The Wind and Saving Private Ryan... But we all know that a Saving Private Ryan SE is in the works (someday?) and I'm sure Gone With The Wind will be revisited as well. But NONE of these was released as a SPECIAL EDITION like Escape was.
But you are right and I should be rallying for GREATER causes and other films too but I was just trying to say that Everyone here is just so Happy it's been re-released with a decent transfer and sound but I was expecting more. I have come to EXPECT a decent transfer and sound with any DVD release SE or otherwise. I expect quality when I'm shelling out cash for these movies. And It's shame on the studios when they release something without the proper care and attention to detail that the movie and we as fans deserve. I'm not just talking about Escape from New York.
Here's another example of this... The Abyss SE DVD. Just incredibly well done... with so many extras and features that it's exhaustive... and then the transfer of the film IS NOT ANAMORPHIC!!!! What a shame. Then it was released as a single Disc... and once again.. NOT ANAMORPHIC... and Then for a 3rd TIME, re-re-released as 2 disc set with new packaging and they STILL DIDN"T FIX THE TRANSER!!! 3 Releases of a DVD and none of them anamorphic. What a shame indeed. IT's called what are the damn movie studios thinking?
Sigh

Danol's sure been suspended from the forum for a long time now. I hope he's reinstated soon. I miss his postings.

"Howard Johnson is right!"

I think excandide might've meant to add to his thread "Escape from NY" thread but might've hit the wrong button. Good times...

In excandide's defense, why is the "new thread" button right beside the "post reply" button anyway? Does anyone actually start new threads that way?

One day, Nasrudin, a mystic Sufi jokester, was asked to substitute for a judge who was ill. First the lawyer for the plaintiff made a compelling case. Nasrudin thought and thought, rubbed his chin and thought some more. Then he said, "You know, you're right"
Immediately the defense attorney jumped up and complained that the other side had not been heard. The defense was brilliant, eloquent and persuasive. Again, Nasrudin thought long and hard before pronouncing, "You know, YOU'RE right!"
At this, both attorneys jumped up, and said, "Nasrudin, we can't both be right!" Without hesitation, Nasrudin said, "You're right!"

Maybe this is Danol and he just signed up as a new member again to get off his suspension! I mean, you gotta admit, this post makes just about as much sense as some of Danol's used to make. Although, gotta give Danol credit, his usually DID make more sense than this one!!!
