Do you honestly believe someone watches EVERY DVD that comes back in? They do guarantee it to be playable.

so basically, the dvds from blockbuster and from buying online that are used and have some light scratches are guaranteed playable and have no skips/disfuntions.

sorry I cant add much to your thread....I never buy used. this might change if something I want in the future has gone OOP. right now I prefer new....since I'm fortunate enough to be able to buy a ton of titles every month and have been collecting for a lengthy period. I have not missed out on enough titles to warrant buying a previously viddied disc. I dont hunt for that best deal, dont much care what price I pay and will buy a dvd from whoever supplies me with it the fastest, or with great service. dont want a disc thats maybe been drooled or spit on, or just touched by some crack-head...selling the disc for that next glass-pipe orgy. I'll take it new...thanks. well...nothings NEW new(everything has been touched)...but you know what I mean.

and welcome to the forum.

Well, I really am not a fan of previously-viewed movies either, I only have about 7 Previously Viewed Movies, I only bought them because they were either mint and I didn't think where worth paying full price for ( I dont pay more than 10.00 for any dvd), if you were wondering the dvds werePanic Room Superbit-Might Sell,Empire,House of 1000 Corpes, Gangs of New York-excellent but not worth 18.00+,Fast and the Furious, Simone, and Van Wilder.) And I look for the bets deal because am 15 and have about 145 dvds/boxsets, i think thats pretty good.

I havent tried buying used from Bbuster because you can get a new copy on sale for like $1 or $2 more in most cases. If its anything like the one I rented today, it would be scratched to hell!

Yes, they guarantee it to be good. If it's not, take it back and they will exchange it for you. I don't think they give refunds on them. Exchange only (I think). I buy mostly previously viewed. Have never had to take one back. A lot of mine come from pawn shops. They guarantee too. Again, exchange only.

thats a pretty decent place to buy from. also...check any local pawn-shops. I've heard some real finds can be had there for cheap. if you dont mind used...if in close-to-mint condition...that might work for you too.

sorry I missed this question. never trust that just because they say it's fine...that it is. buy it. watch the whole thing asap. you'll be finding that some brands and models of dvd players have playing issues with certian discs...or pressings. if it does not play right....take it back. but confirm it plays without error...FIRST. a dvd can be read through scratches. some players read errors better than others. many problems lie below the surface...but thats another issue and another thread.

I've only bought one DVD from BB previously used. That was Mulholland Dr. which was for $6.00 a few weeks after it was released. Nobody was renting it, so they put it out for sale. It even came with the insert. The disc itself never even looked like it was played.

90% of what I buy is used. I have a store that I do a ton of byusiness with so I have no trouble if a disc is not perfect. For a long time I stopped buying BB PVD because they were so abused and too many stickers on them. Don't get me started on the custom cases either. Recently they cut back on the stickers right on the disc itself so I picked up a couple of them, but I prefer private stores that don't change everything.

The blockbuster ones are guaranteed to work. If you have a problem with it, bring it back and they will exchange it for another one. The blockbuster by me is good at always reminding me of that when I do purchase one.

I have bought a bunch of the used ones from blockbuster and have never had a problem with any of them. Like a previous poster said, you should definately watch it all the way through to make sure it does work.

I buy a lot of my action / adventure movies used from BBV. Stuff like Charlies Angeles, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Hulk, etc. The BBV I normally go to has stickers on the box but I always go there early on Tuesday and ask the employee there for any Amray type boxes they are just planning to throw away anyways and just transfer the disc and cover insert over.

All the movies I've bought have none or minimal scratches so they play just fine. I guess it depends on how popular your BBV is. The one I go to is in the middle of a quiet neightborhood so most of the discs I buy are in bascially "viewed once" conditions. Unfortunately they don't come with inserts, but I don't really care about inserts on the "popular" action movies anyways.

As of 20 some PVDvd purchases I haven't had one movie which didn't play , skipped or had some problems. Sure I could have paid about 5 dollars more and had the pleasure of removing the shrink wrap and smelling the new amray plastic box smell but I can live without that luxury as long as the disc plays well.
