Bruce Almighty: Did yours have a booklet?
I purchased a copy of Brucy Almighty (Widescreen) from Target today, but when I got home and opened it, there was no booklet inside...just the DVD! I took the it back to Target and exchanged it for another one, but the same thing...no booklet!
Is this a serious screw up, or is it normal? Did anyone else purchase this DVD? If so, did your's come with a booklet inside? If not, at least I know my copy isn't missing the book...but boy is that cheap!

I think you mean "No insert". And I think you wanted this thread.

My copy of Bruce Almighty (From Circuit City) has an insert, but it's one that completely misses the point of what an insert is for!
One side of it has the front cover picture on it, while the other side has ads for other Universal titles. Now I don't mind the ads so much, I'm used to those, but if you're going to put a picture of the front cover on the other side of the ad, why couldn't they put chapter listings there instead?!?!
Ads may not be the best thing, but if you get chapters it's at least something worthwhile, not just another shot of the cover art...

Im constantly amazed how much emphasis people put on the insert. I dont even look at them unless they are a little booklet like the Red Dwarf series has.
I dont think ive even looked at chapter listings.
Guess im a bit odd

Mine had a slight fold when I opened it so I took it back and tossed it in the best buy workers face. SHOWS THEM FOR GIVING ME A CRAPPY INSERT!

I'm with Dazed on this - who cares?
Why do you want a piece of paper with a chapter listing, when you have scene selection on the DVD itself?
Even if you have a 40 page booklet with tons of nice pictures and lots of info, how often do you ever actually read them. In my experience the ones that have booklets with info on the movie usually just repeat stuff that is covered in te special features anyway.
It constantly amazes me that people will actually refuse to buy a DVD if it does not have a booklet. Surely if you want to buy the movie, you will buy the damn movie?
Y'see, what usually happend at this point is that I will now get pounced on from a great height by people saying things like:
"Dude, you're missing the point - today no inserts, tomorrow self destructing dvd's" or some such nonsense.
Time to run away and take cover...if I'm not back in an hour, call the President...

There are self destructing dvds out there. Haven't you heard about the Disney movies that turn black (unreadable) after 48 hours?

Yes, it had an insert.
However, it also sported forced trailers. I read about the forced trailers on The HULK discs and thought it might be annoying *if* I was buying that title. Well now it has happened to a title I bought and I am surprised at just how annoying it is.
Universal, and everyone else out there in "studioland," please stop forcing trailers at the beginning of our DVDs. When I hit "skip" or "menu" I expect my not-so-cheap DVD player to do it.

...or you could just hit fast forward. Works for me. Takes about 5 seconds.

My copy had a pretty nice insert printed on limited edition paper, essays from several movie critics detailing the greatness of Bruce Almighty, limited edition behind the scenes photos, and a few other nice touches, 6 limited edition pages in total. I don't really care about inserts, would you care to purchase my insert for $20?

I could care less about a chapter listing, what I want is a reproduction of the original artwork. Especially if the front cover isn't sporting it.

Personally, I want to watch the movie, not the damn pretty picture on the cover.
You want a reproduction of the artwork, go buy a movie poster.

JM1 - If you don't care, don't read the thread. Its as simple as that. Some folks like the inserts, others like me could care less
I posted because I still find it inconceivable people get worked up about these bits of paper.
This is how these boards work, my friend ; a person posts an opinion, someone either agrees or disagrees, and so it goes on. As long as we remain civil, we can have a healthy debate about the subject.
Isn't that what these boards are for?
So let's get it straight - if I disagree, I'll post.
Get over it.

No the point of a thread is to answer the question or further discussion about the topic..not to come in and threadcrap about a larger issue of "who cares about inserts" which is what you did.
