MATCHSTICK MEN ON FEB 24th
From www.dvdfile.com:
Kicking off today's news is the announcement of Ridley Scott's Matchstick Men, which will hit DVD on February 24th from Warner Home Video. This minor hit will be made available in both 2.40:1 anamorphic widescreen and 4:3 full screen versions, each with a Dolby Digital 5.1 surround track, an audio commentary with Scott, screenwriter Nicholas Griffin and producer Ted Griffin, the intimate "Tricks of the Trade" full-length documentary and theatrical trailers. Retail will be set at $27.95. Also available will be a two-disc Gift Set featuring both the DVD and the soundtrack CD in collectible packaging. Retail for the box will be $39.95.
Yay its finally coming
. I really liked this movie, The dvd release sounds pretty good. I dont know about the gift pack but Im sure it will still sell a lot of copies. I thought the movie was a little underared when it was in theatres, I bet it will be a hit in the rental stores.
Anyone else excited for the release?

i read that the Tricks of the Trade documentary is in three parts: I: pre-production, II: production and III: post-production so it should be a really nice documentary i think, not just some short fluff piece.

My third favorite movie of the year, so far. I'm picking it up. I hope the cover art to the DVD is the same as the poster. I really liked the colors and the placement of the actors on that one.

on the keepcase. This looks like the first single-disc edition that Warner will be releasing in a keepcase. It's a good sign of things to come.

I like the poster artwork, but I'm disappointed with the DVD cover. They cropped out the Anaheim Convention Center (the "airport") in the background!!!
I work there, so it would have been kinda cool to have my workplace on a DVD cover. Oh well...it'll still be cool to get it and take a look at how well they manage to disguise it as an airport.

In my opinion, this is the best film of the year. So far, at least; we'll see what's what when Return of the King comes out. Ridley Scott is one of my all-time favorite directors, and knowing him and Charlie "de Quadrilogy", this will be a fantastic DVD. The documentary is supposedly feature-length, so perhaps this will be another Warner 2-disc keepcase.

Sorry to revive the dead thread, but as the release draws near, I'm wondering. I went over to Amazon.com the other day and looked up the DVD and saw that the picture was displaying a snapper case. However, I was under the impression that WB was releasing Matchstick Men in a Keep Case?
Anyone know what the deal is here? If they plan on releasing it as a snapper, I'll just get the special edition with the soundtrack.

It's definitely a bummer, but this one's coming in a Warner Bros snapper case. I thought it was going to come in a keep case as well, but at the video store I work at, we already got our Matchstick Men shipment, and every case was in snapper form. Does the special edition/soundtrack deal have the disc in a keep case instead?

From: You have moved into a dark place. It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.
All of the ads in Video Business etc. show the snapper.
I noticed there's a combo film/soundtrack, but I believe those are just the same individual items that are shrinkwrapped together.
Damn. I HATE the snapper. I may have to wait until I can get one of these pre-viewed from a rental store. They often get studio-printed inserts to put in a keepcase when they sell the discs.

Okay, I saw this film in the theatre, and enjoyed it thoroughly, but as soon as I walked out I knew, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that I had NO desire to own this film. I just new that i would never watch it again. Much like Clockwork Orange, I am glad I saw it, but I never want to see it again.

Why is that, LasVegasMichael? Can you elaborate? For me, this is the type of film I can watch again and again, due to the cool storyline, Cage's awesome acting, the wonderful score, etc. etc...
