Transfer question on a couple of discs
Citizen Kane "2 disc" (2001)
It's a Wonderful Life (I think there are a couple versions of this?)
How is the picture quality on these two? Does either title belong in the "I wish they would re-issue these with a new transfer" category? Thanks.

DVD Talk Ultimate Edition
The picture on Citizen Kane is amazing. It looks flawless. In fact, there has been some talk that it is too flawless, that the technique they used to clean it up removed the "natural" grain in the film. Anyway, the film quality is great. The two-disk DVD is outstanding, it is one of my favorite DVD's. The documentary comparing/contrasting the lives of Welles/Hearst is extremely well done.

Both are fantastic DVD's.
I advise you to watch Citizen Kane with the brightness slightly turned down. It's still a fantastic DVD and LDI's work really shines.
It's A Wonderful Life is OK, but it has too much noise reduction applied. Paramount will probably come out with a special edition from their own restoration in the near future... (They list it on their site as a title with "digital restoration" pending)
