Godfather Part II DVD problem(minor spoiler)
SPOILER BELOW:
At the part where Fredo is in bed and gets a phone call from Johnny Ola, I can't even hear what Johnny is saying. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem. In the VHS, you could clearly hear Johnny asking Fredo if Frank Pentagili was coming to the Rizado bros alone, and assuring Fredo that Mike wouldn't know that he was the trader.

I don't think it's a problem, very likely a deliberate decision made during the film's remixing for DVD.
Other films such as Stanley Kubrick's do this with phone voices as well, making them very faint or silent.

I remeber it being clearer in the VHS version, yes, but I don't think that was Coppola's decision to have it clear enough to be heard; it'd be giving away too much too early. So, with the DVDs, where he had control, the audio remix had it lessened.
I think the scne works better with Fredo's face getting more and more distraught, saying desperate things.
It is still subbed though.
