Andromeda Season 1 Box Very Nice
Got my Andromeda S1 Box from Outpost today and I must say it's one of the best looking boxes in my collection. The DVDs themselves are the same 5 two-disk cases sold at retail in the nice slipcase box.
As for the series itself, I watched the premeire and I am fairly happy with it. It's a pristine anamorphic transfer with a fairly active DD 2.0 surround mix. I missed the show the first time around (although I occasionally have it running it the background) and it's pretty good. The production values are somewhat above average, and it's clearly shot for widescreen, so watching it on DVD is a nice way to go.
All in all, pretty good for $40, for an excellent transfer. I bet ADV is kicking themselves for releasing these as individual sets, which prevents them from releasing it like Beastmaster, just as a season. I like the transfer so much here I think I'll have to jump on Beastmaster box as well, which can be found for ~$23. (also anamorphic)

So the bulky cases remained? I was hoping for something slimmer but oh well, can't beat the price . I bet those that bought the seperate releases are kicking themselves even harder then ADV . I'm very glad I never got around to buying the show until now, or I really would have been pissed off.

I have purchased seasons 1 and 2 individually, and it cost alot. Well, perhaps I'll go VCD for a while, and wait for the seasons to be released and then upgrade. In the end it will be much cheaper.

The individual episodes are still being priced at ~$20 which makes no sense when you can buy a whole season for $40. It's going to make it very hard to sell them individually.
Mutant X is also being released individually, so will probably have the same $69 MSRP as Andromeda. These transfers are excellent for the price. Although the production values aren't as high as a show like SG-1, the DVD release is so much nicer it more than makes up for it.
