Boondock Saints: SE!
this from the official Boondock Saints newsletter:
PS... A special edition DVD will be coming out next year (probably Summer 2004) -- and will be incredible. Not like anything you've ever seen if we get our way.
Whooooooooooooo!

DVD Talk Hero
uncut, uncut uncut or no sale.
R1 - ?m ?s - four edits to violence which include:
1) The hotel shootout: This scene has a cut about 7 seconds, showing bloody bullet hits, when the two brothers are hanging on the rope.
2) Rocco shoots the Mafia-Guys in the bar: The headshot and the shot in the chest are cut away on the DVD. You only see the blood coming out of the back of the bench.
3) Shoot out in the pool-room: one scene is cut which shows several bullet hits in the body of the guy who opens the door.
4) Poolroom shootout: The guy that's holding the phone, standing in the back left corner gets shot twice. The second bullet hit is cut out.

DVD Talk Special Edition
Wasn't that last release pretty well ballywhooed as a SE? I mean, we got commentary and some pretty fun deleted scenes, what more are they adding on to this one? I'll approach this as I do the new Donnie Darko, and definately rent before I buy. But there needs to be some compelling stuff for an upgrade in my book.
Will they be digitally removing the scenerey chewing "Rocco" from the film? Call me crazy, but I live in the heart of mob country, but I've never seen a connected guy who looked like Mick Foley.

Hahaha! Oh man, you guys are nuts. The sequel is ramping up to be the super duper big all american penis full hollywood glitz and gory glory campaign the first one deserved but for the Columbine shootings earlier that week...

DVD Talk Gold Edition
Thanks for the heads up. I was literally about to buy the current version. I'll wait till I can see the specs on the new one first though.
Man I hope it hasn't all gone to Troy Duffy's head like it did with the Wachowski brothers.

I guess this film is much loved?
Like Donnie Darko, I've never seen "The Boondock Saints."
Is the current DVD worth picking up or should I wait for the new SE?
