High cost of some TV.

Why is it that some TV costs a ridiculous price, like Star Treks and X-files ; where as other sets, like Law and Order and Simpsons, seem so reasonable? I have many DVDs (500) but still cannot seem to be able to get over the $125 CAN rip-off price of some sets. Are those studios taking some of us for a ride?

I agree there is a wide disparity between season sets ("X-Files" is roughly twice the cost of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," yet they are the same number of episodes and they are from the same studio).

I can answer the question about "The Simpsons," though. "The Simpsons" is a half-hour show, so each season requires fewer discs than hour-long shows do.

No, they're not. The studios can charge whatever they'd like for their products, and we consumers can decline to purchase those products which we feel are overpriced.

Star Trek and X-Files are two shows that are known for a very strong and loyal fan base, Paramount and Fox know this; So they charge as much as they can.
