Looney Tunes Problem

Has anyone else noticed this?

In the middle of the cartoon "Wabbit Twouble" on Disc 1 of the Golden Collection, The video pixellates and distorts.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Must be that your player needs some west and wewaxation. No problems with either my Toshiba or Panny (for once).

On the other hand, the some of shorts in the Warner Legends Collection do have some noticable shimmering as if they were blue matted. I haven't gotten to Yankee Doodle Daffy in the LT Collection but I noticed the shimmering on that one on the Yankee Doodle Dandy disc.

No problems on my Sony. Is the disc marred, scratched, or soiled in any visible way?

Can you give an exact time code? Asking for information on something like this is kinda pointless unless you tell us exactly where to look.

Okay, I noticed a slight pause at the 6min mark.... when Bugs is on top of Elmer and sounding like a bear.

Could this possibly be the layer change?

It's still happening even with a new set of discs

Here's an update on my problem (if you're wondering what my problem is see the first post in this thread), I exchanged the discs for a new set, and the same thing happens, at about the 5:50 mark when Bugs is on top of Elmer pretending to be a bear and playing with his nose, the video pixellates. Does anyone know if anything exists to clean a laser lens on a DVD Player? Also Disc 4 had all kinds of scratches and smudges on it yet it played beautifully, Disc 1 (where the pixellation happens) is pristine.

It's a layer change. Your player *could* be dirty, but that's very strange to see pixelation.

Do any other dual-layered discs exhibit this problem?

Typically the layer change isn't QUITE that obvious. It's usually the slightest of pauses

Pete1974 - did you happen to buy your set at Costco? My disc is doing the exact thing yours is. On another forum, I found info to support the theory that only Costco-purchased sets are doing this. We are not alone with this problem; I'm just trying to figure out what to do about it since apparently exchanging it for another at Costco will just result in the same thing.

I bought my set at Costco, and there was no pixellation or distortion visible during Wabbit Twouble or any other short on disc 1. I've watched it on two different DVD players, and both played fine.

I had a problem with disc 1 also. First half of the episodes played fine but the rest were pixelated. I think the whole second layer on that disck was fugged up. I exchanged the set at Amazon and everythinbg is cool now.

I have a Panasonic RV-30 and the same thing happens at the exact same scene you mention.

First time anything like this has ever happened, too, and it's kinda disappointing. I guess It's finally time to update my DVD player...

I got my set from Costco and it plays fine on my Panasonic XP-30. Perhaps some folks need to update their players or get a firmware upgrade.

Being strictly a software geek, I would not know how to do firmware ugrade on my Panny A113. Any hints? Where do I plug the ethernet cable in to get the download or does it come on a CD? Do I put the firmware in that cupholder that the DVD player has?

You can contact your player's manufacturer and ask them if there is a firmware upgrade. They will send you to a authorized service center and usually it is upgraded there. I don't think you do it yourself.
