I believe the History release was yanked due to the menus - they used images of artwork they did not have.

Is this the long-standing issue of the T-shirts worn by the duo?

Metallica and AC/DC were the original shirts on the show... But in the menus for the Time Life discs, they say something else: Skull and Death Rock.

Did Lars threaten them with a lawsuit?

Well the difference is the episodes. The Time Life versions are just DVDs of the collection tapes that were released years ago...ie.."feel our pain" "Work Sucks".
The History is episodes spanning the early years to the end of the show with episodes not previously available on VHS or DVD. I personally like both because you get a lot of the episodes, but History is a bit better IMO. I was lucky to get a copy.

My favorite episode of all time is "Wood Shop".

I don't think that one is on any of the DVDs, though.

I also heard that History has the music videos which was also a problem.

I asked this in another thead...

Are any of the actual cartoons on the Time Life or History sets edited?? I remember MTV edited some of them after whiny parents complained because their incompetent, moronic children lit themselves on fire and crap like that (which, by the way, I see as natural selection at its finest).

Anyways, I know most if not all of the music video segments are gone, but what about the shorts themselves... are they edited in any way?

Thanks!!

Zack

I don't think any of them were edited because they didn't show any of the bad episodes. On the time life dvd's they indeed are wearing "ac/dc and metallica" t-shirts.

Hard Cash (in the second series of timelife DVD's) has videos. I know they have a Beastie Boys and a few others (maybe a Fishbone song). Sadly, this is as close as you are going to get to how they once aired.

In the episodes, of course. Those rights were granted when the cartoons were made.

But if you look at the DVD menus and the DVD cover art, you'll see that they are not wearing the Metallica and AC/DC shirts.

I think History is OOP... which is why onewierdo said he was lucky to have both.
