The longest I went without watching a new DVD is one week. That was They Live and I watched it on Sunday. Usually I either watch new DVDs the day I buy them or the very next day - in rare cases, both.

Unwatched = too many to count. I seriously have a buying problem where I buy so much a week, but still haven't watched a lot. Oh well, time to go to DDD for some more :D |
If they were purchased new, I don't usually open mine until I'm ready to watch. If I change my mind I can always exchange it at the store or trade it easier if it's sealed. I buy allot of used which are resealed at the store and those I open to check condition. I do have about 2 dozen unopened new right now.

I've got about 200 unopened. I wait until I'm about to watch them to open them. I need to spend a couple of weeks doing nothing else but trying to catch up (the problem is I watch them with my wife so we both need to be free at the same time).

Unopened - Snow white and the Seven Dwarves -have an extra one that is unsealed other than that - None. I always open them as soon as I get home.
Unwatched - Uncommon Valor, The Lion King, Amelie, Bond Girls are Forever, The Great Escape - I have to be in the mood to watch these |

There are only two unwatched 'movies' in my collection, Easy Rider and Taxi Driver. I have watched the extras on both DVDs though. I have seen both movies numerous times in the past. |
about 12.

Just one.
The Silence of the Lambs:Criterion Collection |
I open them and play them as soon as humanly possible, just to ensure everything is tip-top. I've run into a few duds in my experience so I'm glad I was able to exchange them right away.
|
Around 10, I think.
|
I have no unopened dvd's in my collection, but I've got at least a hundred unwatched dvd's. The list is far too long, and it just gets longer each week when I make my shopping trip for new releases.
|
I pretty much open them all. The only ones I can think of are Charade Criterion (just because I haven't gotten around to watching it so figure why open it) and my second copy of Rebecca Criterion (bought that and Notorious, then bought the set; was able to exchange Notorious but not Rebecca, so I've left it sealed since I'll exchange it or sell it sometime).
As far as unwatched DVDs I have at least 200--but I'm working on it (the fact that I can't get any more Columbia House memberships right now is helping this tremendously!) |
I have been making a concerted effort to watch everything I have, lately. I finally watched Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon last night after buying it in February. I think I'm down to about 5 that I haven't seen yet. I often bump unopened DVD that I own in priority to make sure I cycle through my Netflix rentals more quickly or when I get a hot new release I'm dying to watch.

Unopened = 0
Unwatched = 0 ( I haven't watched the 3rd Indy movie yet, but since I have watched the first two, and plan on watching the third one this weekend, I don't count that. ) If I am not gonna watch it, I don't buy it. And if it is something that I want enough to buy it, I always end up watching it the day I buy it. |
A lot. Sometimes it's good to leave them unopened because I can unload them new when the new version comes out.

"I don't understand any reason for buying movies without the intent to watch them in the immediate future unless you're buying with an intent to sell it later for big money."
For me I have DVDs that have been sitting for months. It is my cable or satellite TV. So I just look at the unwatched section when I have time. It allows me to watch a comedy if I need a laugh, action if I need something to blow the F' up, drama if I need to contemplate/think, music is I need to ROCK out, well u get the point. I have about 40-50 unwatched DVDs. I try to keep it that way too. :) In reference to unopened DVDs I have about 6. These typically are the catalog titles that I have upgraded from the VHS. Or the 5.88 titles like others have mentioned. I guess I figure it's not a big deal since it's a low cost DVD. I ALWAYS open the new releases though to make sure they play and have no defects. I guess I should for ALL of them. :) |
I have 2. Opera: LE and Mr. Show Season 3.
I usually open them just to check the discs out. Opera I just haven't got around to yet and Mr. Show I just got last week. I'm almost finished with Season 1 & 2 so it will be opened in the next day or so. |
Unopened - 0. I open them as soon as I get home.
Unwatched - 2 Indy films, Forrest Gump and a few Nightmae on Elm Street movies. I only got these within the past week or so though. They'll all be watched within a few days. |
Out of 960, only one!
Army Of Darkness: Director's Cut Limited Edition. On the back where it shows how many out of 5000, the number is missing. It just shows /5000. |

Might pick something up but can't watch it immediately. 2) They may have a sale for one week only on a few older titles I like. Might pick something up but can't watch it immediately. 3) I could swing in a Pawn Shop or Used DVD store and find a bunch of titles I want and buy 5 or more movies if the price is right. Maybe I can't watch them immediately. 4) Blockbuster, Hollywood Video or Movie Gallery may have a previously viewed sale where I might pick a few titles up and not have time to watch them immediately. ....................... ;) |
