How do you keep track of your wish list/unreleased list?
My apologies if this has been discussed at some point but I don't have a memory of it and a search either didn't turn up anything (using 'unreleased', 'excel', 'database'), too many results ('wish list'), or would be under three letters.
Anyway, every once in awhile I see posts mentioning how many movies are on someones wish list, yet to be released, etc. and they sound quite comprehensive (both in terms of quantity and/or down to the studio that owns the rights) and am curious how they went about compiling and organizing it.
So for those that keep some form listing dvds on your wish list, to see list, have seen list, yet to be released, what form does it take and how is it organized?
So far I have been keeping a very basic wish/to see list using DVDAf and signing up for notifications on some unreleased titles but would like to become more organized and complete.

And I research each title on it.
Then I specify which edition/version I want, when it will be released, etc.

Unreleased I don't bother w/... what's the point?
Wish list (stuff I may want but don't want to buy) I use DVDaf
"Wish" list stuff I know I'll probably eventually buy I use dvdpricesearch
Those I've preordered I use the same notepad/excel I use for my "have list"

I mostly keep an Excel spreadsheet of upcoming releases, with the title, release date, and DDD cost. It's useful for new release Tuesdays, and also to keep tabs on the things that I want but don't pick up right away.

I have a little black spiral pad. my shopping spree style is a violent experience. I'm crossing off and adding titles I see so fast, that pencil and paper is the easiest way. I take it with and update as I go. I also have an official "dvds not out but needed" list...tacked up right to the side of my 19'' monitor
. it's the same methods I used when I was music director at a radio station. computers were not much of an option back then
. guess the system just stuck.

My feelings are that if I can't remember that I want a movie, then I probably didn't want it very bad in the first place.
Having said that, I do have a Notepad document with a listing of about 15-20 movies that are either not available on DVD or are import only. The Import list is remind me of the titles of certain movies I'd planned on buying, if I don't think I can remember the title. Battle Royale obviously wouldn't go on the list, but Bang Rajan does. Then I have my "Not Released on DVD; VHS is OOP" list, which is mostly obscure titles that I try to remember to look for on VHS whenever I'm at a flea market or a pawn shop or some place like that.

I use Amazon.com's wish list feature, and I buy most of my DVDs from them because they are one of the few retailers who actually ship to me here in Japan at VERY REASONABLE shipping rates, plus I often have my DVD in hand before release date! I had Indiana Jones a full 4 days before official release date. I most generally get my orders from Amazon.com 7 days after they ship it. From other places it takes 10 - 15 days! I end up paying about $2.67/DVD for shipping from Amazon.com, other places soak me up to $10/DVD for shipping!
For unannounced titles, I don't keep track at all - why make such a list is my thinking on it!

I use DVDAf, I have my wishlist split up into a couple of categories. I also use it to track DVDs I want to rent. I don't keep a wishlist of unreleased stuff because for all I know it could be unreleased for years.

Mine's in my head. I look at the release lists on Monday for what's coming out Tuesday and choose accordingly. Other then that I pick up what ever strikes me in the store.

Upcoming releases are currently listed on a sheet of "List" paper, with corresponding date of release, folded up and tucked into my wallet. This also includes CDs.

I just do the Notepad text file thing too. I keep a list of:
- DVDs that have been announced (so I can schedule my Best Buy trips accordingly).
- DVDs not yet announced (I saw the movie, was pretty sure I'd like the movie based on the trailers, actors or themes, or friends' recommendations were enough for the movie to make the list).
- Movies not yet released in theaters (cuz I liked the trailers) - this list gets adjusted based on additional trailers and what friends (or I) think of the movie after it's released.
- DVDs already released but I'm waiting on new versions/formats. (Bridges of Madison County only in fullscreen? Bite me!)
I really don't have a choice in the matter of keeping lists like this, mostly because of the significant lag time between when a movie's trailers start showing up and when the DVD is released. Unless it's something like LOTR or Matrix, I'm probably gonna forget that I wanted to buy it.
Besides, lists rule.

I keep a piece of paper on my wallet. One side is my 'to see' list, the other side is my 'to buy' list. I just cross them off when i see/buy them. It works best this way because im sometimes at work and see something interesting that i should add to my 'to see' list before I forget.
