MSRPs are always 26-30 range for new releases. It'll be 15-20 on release just like most others.

nickmondo1- That's just the MSRP, in stores it will be about $20.

Sounds like a cool release, can't wait to rent it! The commentary looks very interesting especially. Thanks for posting this news!

I think it'll be funny if Kirzinger actually has a girly voice...

I hope the 4:3 transfer is on the 2nd disc and does not waste space....I really don't see why they are putting a 4:3 transfer on there....:shakehead:

Something tells me that these are not the final specs. The Nightmare/Friday the 13th retrospective documentary is notably absent. I also believe that there will be separate widescreen and pan-and-scan versions.

Well, New Line doesn't have the rights to older Paramount footage (hence the only footage in their F13 retrospective on the Jason X DVD was from the last two films), and wasn't there already a NOES documentary on the box set?

According to the trade ad [which I could scan if someone's willing to host it..]

  • Commentaries and Interviews With Robert Englund & Ken Kirzinger!
  • Production Documentary
  • Visual Effects Documentary
  • Jump To Death Menu Option

Fullscreen? No DTS-ES?

My God, what has the world come to?

Otherwise, excellent sounding DVD.

I know it's both, but I'm insulted that they put a fullscreen option on it instead of a DTS track.

I'm also surprised that there is no DTS track, especially since both "Jason Goes to Hell" and "Jason X" had one. Looks like New Line is taking a step backwards on this one (though the other features look great). Maybe this will change before the release date.

Hopefully, as another poster mentioned, they will release the widescreen and full screen versions seperately, which could free up some space for a DTS track. I prefer widescreen, but also realize there is a market for fullscreen (Which is fine with me, let people have what they want - I'm not trying to start a widescreen vs. fullscreen debate). But are there really that many people who want both? Usually the widescreen fans could care less about a fullscreen version, so it's just wasted space on the disc that will never or rarely be accessed, and vice versa for the fullscreen crowd. So why not release seperate versions, and free up disc space for more extras, audio tracks, etc. - that way everyone is happy.

I suppose it's different for basic/barebones catalog discs with widescreen on one side and fullscreen on the other - nothing is really lost, everyone gets what they want and it's cheaper than producing two different versions. But that may be the point in this case too - releasing one edition for both crowds is more economically feasible than releasing seperate editions - even if some features are sacrificed.

Roy

That actually sounds like a better idea.
