Mon Oncle and M. Hulot's Holiday Back In Print for 2004
At long last Criterion has succeeded in renewing its rights in Jacques Tati's classic films Mon Oncle, M. Hulot's Holiday, Jour de Fête and Playtime. The original Criterion editions of Mon Oncle and M. Hulot's Holiday will be back in print starting in January of 2004. Watch this space for further news about Playtime and Jour de Fête.

This is great news since I found about Criterion just after these went OOP. It also seems to imply that we'll be getting new editions of Playtime and Jour de Fête. If so, finally a reward for being late to the game!

Great news! I sold my Mon Oncle a few months ago because I heard rumors of a re-release, I started the bidding at $25 and it ended at $170. Bet that guys gonna kick himself... :\

This is why I never buy OOP titles on Ebay. Remember how much the old 400 Blows used to go for? $400 - that's a dollar a blow!
Now the new transfer and extras in the boxed set put the old disc to shame.
Glad I waited. VERY good news.
I've been looking forward to seeing these and just never got around to picking them up as they first went OOP.
I'm hoping they have the same spine #s and packaging.

And I thought 2003 was as great year. Ikiru, Jour de Fete, Bad Sleep Well and Stray Dog (rumored), Rules of the Game. I'm going to go broke.

Great, great news!
I really like Tati's work so this is something.
I never bought into the logic of DVD as a collectible/investment. Something always comes along eventually in a bigger and better release.
The Tati new or renewed releases will take the wind out of a lot of speculators (along with 400 Blows). Particularly since the Playtime release will be the recently restored version that played at Cannes.

Is it confirmed that the Playtime transfer will be different than the previous Criterion DVD?
