I like the old system too. For those who emailed and complained, has anyone heard from either DVD AF or Guzzlefish?

My reply from DVD AF (and within 15 minutes, too . . . very nice
):
We kept getting complaints one way or the other about the title counting on TV box sets - some people wanted them to count as one title per box, others as one title per disk. No matter which way we went someone complained. So we stopped counting matches and titles and are now just counting listings (formally known as matches). We will se what the response is this way.
Thanks for you support and interest on the site.

I read the thread about tv box sets... i didn't even think TV sets were a problem. It's movie sets that were the controversy. Besides, i dont see the big deal in keeping Matches and Titles. Its just one extra number there.

here is a partial statement from DVDAF. the rest said pretty much what has already been posted above:
I think thats great that I would actually get my $ back. I donated when I approved of the system. I'm now on the fence here. should I just "get over it" and make time to construct folders..if this indeed will give me my title count back? or should I just go the route of some others here and build my own system? too bad my temperature is 100 and I'm sick as a dog. better wait until I can think clearly.
We do not want you to feel shortchanged so if you decide to leave us we will return any donations you have sent our way in the last 6 months.

AF could have saved a lot of people some grief, if they, maybe told people in advance what they were thinking of doing? I can't imagine why they wouldn't give some warning since DVD AF is rather popular (or at least it was).

Just saw this posted on DVDAF's main page:
AFICIONADOS REJOICE!
We have changed our title counting policy.
A couple of mods at DVDAF rebelled and initiated polls and threads in a number of online DVD forums. Insults were exchanged; punches thrown; and the membership joined with a barrage of emails, some polite, some otherwise. The revolutionaries claiming to have 25 to 30 thousand troops behind them managed to intimidate the loyalists who quickly run for cover.
Starting today, October 28th...
Each feature length movie counts as one title, different cuts do not count as different titles.
Each individual listing, box set or otherwise, containing a TV Series, Anime, Short, Cartoon, Documentary, etc. counts as a single title.
If a movie box set contains a documentary or some other special feature, this feature may be counted as title only if it is also sold separately.
There are thousands of listings to be verified. We do not expect that they will all be updated for some time, but you are welcomed to submit your changes.
Thank you for your support and "participation"

I don't have any problem with their new changes. They offer a free service to anyone who wants to use it. If people really need this site to tell them how many dvds they have, then perhaps a premium service should implemented.
Maybe it's just me, but I've never been concerned about how many titles I own. As long as I'm able to list what I have, then I'm happy. If you have a box set then just list the movies individually.

Yea!!!
I have my "listings" and "titles" again! More than anything, I just found the new system to be more confusing than the original. No longer a concern . . .

. this is a dvd forum...or so I thought. to get excited about dvds and more importantly, films, should be acceptable on any level. instead...people are either judged by having too many dvds, not enough dvds, not the right dvds, or just trying their best to count dvds and titles correctly. I'm never too concerned...but just enough to participate in this whole dvdaf fiasco. just enough to get it changed back to the way it was. it has.
talemyn--just got off work...great news for me too. thanks for the briefings

the strange thing, according to DVDAF I had 1444 titles before I entered in my Looney Tunes Golden Coll. and my Looney Tunes Reality Check disc. after I entered them my title count dropped to 1441.

) that people are up in arms over this.I use a DVD tracking program just to keep track of my DVDs for my personal self and to occasionally send my friends a link when they want to know what DVDs I have. I couldn't care less whether my box sets count as one or twenty. That's just me, though.

thats cool. I was just a little ticked because I donated a few times over the last 6 months because I liked the system they had and the ease of it all. then they changed it without notice. I paid for the system they had...not the one they changed to. then they actually would have given my $ back. that was VERY COOL and good biz. now that it's back pretty much like before....it's a double-shot of goodness.
