well, my collection is nearing 600 titles(box-sets count as 1). When i ran out of bookshelves i stumbled over two shelves for hoover dustbags that were standing around in a cellar and getting all dusty. They are 6 feet high and take about 300-350 dvd's each. They don't look that good presentation-wise but it's okay with me. i still have those bookshelves for my precioussss ones.

Vincew, I like that discreet look. I do not think 100s of colorful DVD cases add to the aesthetic quality of a room unless it's a dedicated movie room.

I have about 600 DVDs, and keep them in two large bookcases that I picked up at Wal-Mart for around 40/each. I'm out of room on those, so lately I've been stacking on the top and making rows in front of existing rows. It's about time to get a third bookcase.

I agree. I am moving to 400 disc changers with the cases in storage. Hundreds of DVDs in the living room do detract from the room aesthetics. They look tacky, and as someone commented earlier somewhat "geeky".

I'm over 600 and I have them alphabetical spread over a few racks.

I'm thinking about upgrading to this one...

I'm not a fan of spinners myself. But if I was those wouldn't be too bad.

Off subject... Who's Nick Lang? He kind of looks like a beat up Michael J. Fox.

Those work pretty well, I have 3 of them (cherry color) as of now.

I ended up making a HT room a while after the above pic was taken.

I have that one, in oak & black. Here's a semi-recent pic.

Nick Lang is the character MJF played in The Hard Way. Cool poster!

I know a guy with over 3000 dvds, he's got a clean, unfinished basement in which he has lined up rows of boltz racks so it sort of looks like the stacks in a library. He keeps them alphabetical by title except for odd box sets where the titles aren't named "together" (e.g. - X Files are named "together" but the 007 Box movies aren't) which he keeps seperate on their own rack.

I don't have enough floor space or wall space for my collection. So I built shelfs where there was wasted space. This is one of 3 shelfs. It is 18 feet long and holds almost 500 DVDs.

Cool, it's the 2001 monolith. "My God... it's full of DVDs!"

How stable is this thing? I worry about the one I store-bought that is half that size (mainly because it broke in the move... thanks, movers).

People looking for more storage solutions should try searching for "store" or "storage" in titles only in this forum... there have been past threads on this topic.

@ Static's 2001 ref

I'm over 400 now. I started buying the 100 DVD racks at Suncoast and would add as needed. I use a different rack for my Criterions. Now I need to get another rack and will have to begin stacking 'em. I think I'll get the 250 DVD rack. Once that one fills up I might consider thinning the herd. There aren't many that I would consider parting with, though.

Sometimes life sucks... but in a good way

I have a 300 DVD rack that I picked up from FYE for $30. Its decent looking and was easy to assemble. 5 shelves, and my ~120 DVDs fill up 2 and a half shelves. My roommate has filled the bottom shelf and started on the one above it. By the end of the year, it should be full

1000+ ?!?! Man, I thought I was a DVD wh*** with 73!!! Wow, I couldn't imagine my collection x 13 or so. Yeesh. But, man, that'd be sweet. I wouldn't know where to start if I had an itching to watch a movie. It'd take hours to peruse my DVD list if I had 1000+.

Here's just my anime DVD collection in the bedroom. My live action DVD's are on racks in the other room with the HDTV.

The cases are Carina brand you can buy cheaply at Mediaplay in either oak or black.

bdhart I love those spinners. I have been using the boltz racking so far but they are starting to take up too much space. Any chance I could get the plans from you? How much would you think a carpenter would charge me too have them built?

Have also thought about going with the 400 disc mega changers, but then you have to pick which movie you want to watch by looking at a list.

cubanx-

I'm not into anime at all...but I respect your collection totally.

this is similar to my style...a simple library type atmosphere. you have my support.
