question on ROTK

Its been rumored that the theatrical version of ROTK will be at least 3 and a half hours. If so, will it still be on one disk on DVD? Would the picture quality suffer at all because of that extra half hour or so of video?

Since the theatrical cut won't be released on dvd until July or August of 2004 I don't think anyone can say just yet. If you want my guess I would say expect a 2-disc set with the movie spread across 2 discs, and the extras on disc 2 as well.

I'm hoping that we get an earlier release for the ROTK DVDs than Aug/Nov(EE) of 2004. Hopefully King Kong will not be taking up too much of PJ's time.

The movie is not even SOON in theater than we talk about the DVD release??? premature a little bit!???

since we're at it, I wonder then if the Platinum will be 4h10 long (respecting the 40mins of extra as the other two) and a 5 DVD set??

From: You have moved into a dark place. It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.
Actually, they're probably going to up the bitrate to an average of 16Mbps and spread the film across 8 discs.

The film hasn't even opened theatrically, yet, so we have no idea of the running time of the film, let alone the compression rate of the not-yet-produced DVD.

Relax, man. It'll come soon enough. Remember how long you waited to get Raiders of the Lost Ark on DVD? It doesn't seem so long now that you have it in your grubby little hands, now does it?
