Captain Kronos DVD...buyer beware

If you're a fan of Hammer's Captain Kronos and Frankenstein And The Monster From Hell, you may want to avoid the domestic discs Paramount released on 10/21. The Spanish editions are far superior in picture quality. The U.S. versions are dark and grainy - the imports put shame to them. The only reason I double dipped is because the American DVDs contain commentary tracks. You'll spend close to double for the imports, but if you're a fan (and you own an all region player), it's worth it.

Can you recommend a good Spanish site to order these from? One that a non-Spanish speaking guy like me can get along with?

Yeah, I will take my chances for $5.88. Thanks though.

I picked up both at Wally today. Haven't watched them yet, but for $6 I thought I would take a chance

I've got Kronos coming from DDD, but I just picked up Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell, and I have to say I'm quite happy. I had seen bits and pieces (no pun intended) of this on cable, but I had never really watched it all the way through. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it---almost as much as Curse of Frankenstein. Great performances, sets and acting, and to me it felt more like one of the "classic" Hammers than other 70's Hammer productions. I thought that anamorphic print looked quite good, and with a commentary track, for $5.98---awesome.

I agree Ky-Fi. This has been a favorite of mine for years, and I'm happy with the DVD.

I've never seen better prints of either movie. For $5.88 at Wal-Mart, I'm not complaining.

I would like to have seen that artery scene, though...

Having viewed the VHS for so many years, the DVD of CAPTAIN KRONOS is a major improvement. I was thrilled with the job Paramount did for a $6 title, with a commentary no less! One of my favorite Hammers. Thrilled to finally have it.
