Any trouble finding Dragonslayer?

Was anyone able to find a copy of Dragonslayer? I went to Wal-Mart and Target this morning before going to work and could'nt find any of them at either store. Went to my local Best Buy after work and was able to grab just one measly copy left at store, I also pickup Pink Floyd-Live at Pompeii and Beast from 20,000 Fathoms. It seem some retail did not bother to order more copy, they rather sells the more popular titles instead likes Indiana Jones which I wanted to pickup but unfortunetly I'm in a tight budget like now.

The stores (righly so) figured that this wouldn't be a big seller, so probably only ordered a handful of copies. Of course, most people who want this movie are going to try and buy it the first day.

Hence, no copies available!

somehow I found this at a local used dvd store for 8.99 about a week or two ago. I have no idea where they got it from. Dragonslayer is a brand new dvd title right? Not a re-release? I love this movie and i can't imagine it having come out before without me knowing about it.

My best buy had about 6-7 on the floor. But circuit city, suncoast, & CD World all did not have any copies.

How's the quality of it? Pretty good? It is from '81 afterall.
Gotta be better than the 'taped' VHS copy we had of it when I was a kid.

Well finally watch it tonight I thought the video transfer was better than the VHS and LD which suffer from horrible laser rots. Since it was made in '81 you can clearly see some of the affect shots (matte lines, etc.). But hey, I rather see this movie the way it was first show in the theater than having someone liked Lucas clean it up a bit like in his Original Star Wars Trilogy.

Bottom line a happy purchase.

How exactly does a VHS get laser rot?

I was talking about the LaserDisc version which I also owned for quite awhile. I play it a few months ago and stop watching it as the picture quality was becoming almost unwatchable because of laser rots. My older brother owned one too and he said his LD version was in pretty bad shape also. Hope that clear thing up.

Happy surprise!

Mine arrived Monday via UPS from DVD Empire along with the Indy set. I can now retire my 2 LDs of this film (WS & FS).

I pay mine at 14.99. Sure, I could got it for cheaper online, but rather see this now then wait a few days.
