Finding Nemo: fast selling DVD ever?

They're already advertising this on TV in heavy rotation....and it's coming out in 2 weeks. I got a feeling it'll be the fastest selling DVD ever for a day, a week, whatever.

Any takers on how many it sells in the first day? Easily 3 million, right?

Saw it in the theatres, thought it was ok, but not worth buying. Rather save my money for LOTR:TTT EE. Story about fishes... OMFG, as if people making completely unrelated comments about political topics weren't looney enough. Don't do it again. - Static

'm sure many feel the opposite way, FuzzyBallz. And I can make sense out of your connection to voting and a fun flicks made most for kids and the young at heart but I'm certainly not going to waste my time thinking about it.

Anyway.....I'm sure as heck going to get it and I haven't even seen it yet. That is a studio that hasn't steered me wrong yet so I've got mine ordered and I can't wait. I just hope the virtual aquarium is cool or my cats sure are gonna be bummed.

My guess: 5.5 mil. first day, 6.5 mil. first week. By Christmas, very likely surpassing The Matrix as the biggest seller of all time.

Yeah, considering Finding Nemo's huge success in the theaters, I wouldn't be surprised if this movie sold really well in its first day, and in its first week. I mean, it will probably outsell how many Matrix Reloaded did in its first day. I know I'll be helping add to that number, as I will be buying it to add to my Disney collection.

I don't think it's going to sell as much as you think. I'm more curious about LOTR:TTT EE.

If I recall, the FOTR:EE did very well for New Line last year, even matching Monster's, Inc. in sales, so I'd expect to see something similar this year with TTT:EE and Finding Nemo.

I thought that the FOTR:EE did no sell as well as the regular version that came out three months prior.

Pixar has yet to top the Toy Story films IMO.

As for the sales, I have no doubt that FN will surpass M:R . . . much wider target audience . . . the kiddie factor will skyrocket this one.

I think it will be the fastest-selling DVD ever. It's a new release, not a catalog title; it appeals to all ages; it was a huge hit; and there are more DVD players out there than ever before.

I agree.
If we do a simple comparsion to recent titles:

* Lion King did 3 million? This was a disappointing disc for many people, with mainly fluff, and it's not a new movie.

* Matrix Reloaded did 4 million? This is a Rated R film, automatically not as broad of appeal. Further, many people (myself included) didn't buy Reloaded, since it's not the definitive version that should come out with the Trilogy set. Very limited extras.

I don't see how Finding Nemo (HUGE box office, HUGE appeal, HUGE justification for parents buying it "for their kids") won't do 8 million.
And easily 13 million by the end of the year.

The movie was a classic. I will buy it many times: one to watch, one to keep "mint" as a collector's item, one to eBay, one for the trampy bacon vixen, one to smack Eddie with, and one for Jeff Schwartz.

If someone makes a really stupid comment, please don't help the stupidity to reproduce by quoting it a bunch of times. Just let us know, and one of us will get to it when we can... thanks.

ROTFLMAO

As for sales predictions, I'm guessing 5 million on day one, 8 million the first week, and about 20 million by December 31st.
