Help! Which version of 'Black Christmas' to get?!?!
Alright, fellow DVDTalk'ers, I need help. I am wanting a copy of 'Black Christmas', but I came across two different versions and I haven't seen reviews for either one.. So , to anyone who knows..Which version is better?
(1)

Or..
(2)

I know the first has more extra's, but my main concern is video / audio quality. Can anyone point me to some reviews or personal information on these discs?

The first one is the best value but the audio/video quality is pretty much the same with both discs. The only difference is the first one is "widescreen" and the second one is the "full screen" version.
The widescreen version isn't really widescreen, it's just been matted from its original 1:33 ratio to 1:66 because in the open matte version theres a scene where you can see a boom mic hanging overhead. It's a case where you are actually seeing less picture with the first disc but its the way it was intended to be seen.

the first version is best but the finale of the film has problems because of the widescreen matting. here are 2 reviews, one for each version.

"There is unfortunately one hitch to this matting, and that is the famous final shot. As it pans out, vital information is lost at the top, somewhat lessening the effectiveness of the scene."
