Any info on when this might be released 'for real'?

That cover is perfectly suited for the film. I don't see anything wrong with it at all.

A lot of people don't like compared to the R2 version, which has a subtle dignitly about it:

Both covers suit the movie, I think. I do like the R2 version better, although I don't abhor the R1.

I hate the R1 cover (also used for the previous DVD, LD and VHS). I'm surprised that the special edition was to have the same crappy cover. The R2 version's cover is far better IMO.

ok people, like ive already stated i didn't set out to make money with this dvd but quite honestly i could do with the money right now and its not one of my favorite movies, if it were i would most likely keep it no matter how much it was worth. So i am putting it up for auction to Dvd Talk members rather than on ebay. To find all the details look for my thread in the classifieds, thanks

To answer the original question again, probably not much now:

I wonder if there will be art work or another way to tell the difference between the two releases?

Classic, just classic.
Well if you ask me (and you indirectly did by posting to this thread) this whole thread is classic because when I opened it there was a thread that announced the details of the upcoming re-release of this title.
