The average turnaround rate from theater to DVD seems to be about 6 months.

Actually the turnaround is between 3 and 6 months, depending on how the movie did.

And there is a movement within the film industry to get this down to two months after a film stops playing in first run movie houses.

a 2 month turnaround would be excellent their is no reason for it to be longer. Besides interest in the films is still up by them. Personally I think you should be able to buy it right after you see the film before you leave the theater if you have a ticket stub .

(yes I know it will never happen, but I can dream can't I?)

Why not skip the theatrical run altogether and release every new movie directly to DVD?

Anyone know when Mystic River will be released on DVD? I hate how the studios make us wait an exorbitantly long time to release DVDs!

I can't wait for the The Last Samurai Special Katana Edition comes out either.

Very funny, but there is no reason for people to wait forever for a dvd when in fact the could have it ready for release when the movie comes, out.

Hey man! Can I borrow it from you after you get it from the theater?

I do not want to spend the money to see it at the theater.

I counted 8 one time! I do not mind the commercials, as long as they run before the actual showtime.

The theater closest to me (United Artists) does 'the 20'. It's 20 minutes before the showtime of documentaries and advertisements. I find it more enjoyable than watching a blank screen.

But I think if I see TNT's mini drama 'Hard Starter' one more time then I will scream!

I will be picking this one up too!

I kind of like these type of movies that I do not see in the theater. This way, I can test it out on my HT.

It looks entertaining at least.
