Holy CRAP!! [for anyone buying Lion King PE]
And THIS time I’m not talking about “sex”
http://www.animationnation.com/cgi-b...=1;t=006655;p= umm.....LD to DVD transfers anyone  |
Looks better to me.
|
Strage.. very strange indeed.
I'll still be first in line tomorrow morning to pick mine up. :D |
The fact that I don't see the crocodiles just sititng there doing nothing doesn't bother me. It's not going to effect my enjoyment during that song, and certainly not for the overall film.
|
It looks like the exact same scene, just differently animated.
|
CENSORSHIP!
|
Glory be!
|
How does this affect the overall content of the movie?
|
when they did the IMAX version, they touched up a lot of the animation, most notably the Mufasa's Ghost sequence but apparently a little bit here and there, so it would look better on the IMAX screens. then with the DVD they used the touched-up version for both the regular 1994 version and the special IMAX version, rather than the original animation for the 1994 version. i wouldn't go so far as call it censorship since as far as i know nothing's been taken out.. but a blunder for sure not to include the original animation on the original theatrical version.

What did they do with the Mufasa-cloud scene?

I...
... think... ... those... ...pictures... ... load... ... way... ... too... ... fast. :) Doesn't look bad too me. Looks more like they were "finished" rather than "butchered". |

WORD DonnachaOne. I could email 'em to ya...they'd probably get their faster...
from the link: 3D Zazu talks to you for a good 2-3 minutes before the menu screen appears. Are you surprised, though? I’m not. Everyone loves this kind of crap, right? Here, this will blow your mind. Ready for this? There are some crocodiles that have a few seconds of screen time in the “I Just Can’t Wait To Be King” sequence. Remember them? Here’s a screenshot from the original film on VHS: [Insert slow loading screenshots from VHS here] Well, for some reason, both versions of the Lion king on DVD have replaced the above drawings with this blinding, horrible crap: [Insert [what the poster thinks is] slow loading, blinding, horrible crap here] Oh my friggin god, WHY??! Hahahahaha. Can anyone explain this? ‘Cause I’ve never been so curious in my life. Apparently, both the drawings AND the composition needed to be fixed for the DVD release. Wow, ‘see how much better it looks, now? Even the birds were 'improved'. If they were gonna rework some scenes, why couldn’t they rework the retarded Simba/Scar slow-motion fight scene at the end? Of all things to mess around with, why the crocodiles? |
Well in all fairness that was from the Animation Nation forum
"Anal about animation like dvdtalk is about dvds!" :) |

I figure everyone's trying to get onto his personal page at once... The eyes on the crocs do look a little weird, I might point out. UN-disney. Then again, the original crocs looked undisney too... |
When those pics started to load, I thought they were gonna show the crocs w/o the birds in their open mouths. But, it's just the same scene that was reworked so no biggie to me. As much as I would've liked the original animation, I can live with this.

It wouldn't be a Disney release without them messing with something...
Honest to God, I think they do this sometimes just so they can log onto the Internet and laugh at all of the complaints. To me, this isn't the end of the world. But, then again, I'm a pretty damn casual fan of this film. I can fully understand it upsetting people who are big fans (and, given the bank this one made at the box office, I suspect there are more than a few). I still have my LD box set for this one... I'll probably hang onto it for a bit until I see what other changes were made, and what supplements didn't make the transition to DVD. |
|
Uh... big whoop.
|
Wow.
That is not even remotely a problem. In fact, I think looks better, but then again I'm not an Animation nerd. Just a DVD and Music nerd, thank you :). |
Looks more like they redid the whole scene, as opposed to fix it up!
|
no original crocodiles = no sale !
|
some people are really stupid to base their whole decision to buy on this small minor difference. ignorants.

Are the crocodiles on the insert?

Wait a minute. You must not be the same guys posting in the Who Framed Roger Rabbit thread a while back about the Baby Herman scenes. At least I hope not, because if you're the same ones, then I'm having a hard time figuring out what's okay to change and what isn't.

Changing the number of teeth in a croc is just a meaningless visual change. |
The new crocs look more 'Disney'. The old crocs had more of a tribal art look to them, which was kinda cool. Either way, I'm not too upset since it was changed already to accomodate the new musical number. It's not like they colored in a pair of panties or something. :)

For what it's worth the original crocodiles always kinda bothered me because frankly they seemed out of place. They didn't look like anything else in the movie, as if they completely switched art styles for just that one shot then went back to "normal."
That said they probably should have left it as is for "historical" purposes, but I find it really hard to join the hysterical shrieking hordes crying "MUTILIATION AND CENSORSHIP!!!!!!!!!!!!" I dunno, whatever. In any case those guys at the other forum acting like these new crocodiles are some sort of horrific Photoshop abomination are crazy. |
This is probably the first time in history that Disney has altered animation and made it *more* phallic.
|
What a bunch of Croc...

Can't you skip through the talking before the menu? Just hit the skip forward button. And for the crocodiles: It's 2 seconds... let it go.
|
threads like this make jokes about inserts look good..
|
Well that settles it. Im not buying it. In fact I'll never buy Disney again. In fact I will never use the word Disney again. In fact I am going to boycott theaters playing Brother Bear. In fact I am going to buy countless Disney products just so I can burn them.
|
You shoul start by spelling disney with a $ instead of a S. it's the only true rebel thing to do..
