The Carpenter Collection!

Comes Out Oct. 7th! Amazon.com has it for $29.99
Includes:

The Thing
They Live
Prince Of Darkness
Village Of The Damned

Who else is looking forward to this set? I have had it ordered for a while now. The only movie in the set that i don't really care for is Village of the Damned.

Nice cover. I am not gettig it since I already had THING and it isnt Anamorphic upgrade. I did order THEY LIVE and PRICE OF DARKNESS which shipped yesterday from DDD. I cant wait to watch those two movies again! I picked up the last part of his APOCOLYPSE trilogy (In the Mouth of Madness) the other day so now I can have all three films. Picked up both movies from DDD for $9.sumthin each. That box set is a good deal though but too bad these movies dont have more extras!

In the Mouth Of Madness is what i wish would had been included instead of Villiage of the Damned. I almost bought The Thing but when i was told there was a boxset coming out soon,i just decided to hold off until it was released. I wish there were some extra's as well but for the moment i'm just happy im gonna finally be able to own some of my favorite john carpenter films.

Yeah, John Carpenter rules... I dont have VOTD yet but will eventually someday when I find a copy for under $10. I am probably going to get Starman soon since it doesnt look like an SE is coming anytime. I think CHRISTINE is coming out in an SE next year after Escape from New York. I just want to get all of his films eventually, even the semi okay/lousy ones.

I picked up They Live last week, plan on watching it on the film fest for Halloween, also would like to get The Prince of Darkness, but I'll wait on a SE of The Thing, and VOTD is pretty shitty.

They Live is on the way from DDD. I have all the others but VOTD, which I didn't care for.

hmm, I'll have to think this one over. I haven't picked up "Prince of Darkness" or "They Live" yet. I have "The Thing". I had no plans to pick up "Village of the Damned". I have it on laserdisc and I've only watched it once. But if I can find a really good deal on this set (meaning roughly equal to the price I'd pay for PoD and TL alone, or a couple of bucks more) I may go ahead and pick it up and finish out my Carpenter collection.

This thread just leads me back to the internal debate of "What the HELL happened to John Carpenter???"

I am going to have to print a custom cover for POD... I hate the new cover. I might actually make a custom cover for a 3 disc set for the Apocolypse Trilogy to include THING, POD, and ITMOM.

cool box. too bad I already own the R2 versions of They Live and Prince Of Darkness. I really can't afford to have 2 copies of these right now.

I wonder if I could just get the box and make my own set?

Well if you own a Malata DVD player... the Thing plays like an Anamorphic transfer, meaning I didn't have to zoom it. The picture quality is still very good. There was a thead a long time ago about this... For some reason I don't have to zoom it. I have a widescreen TV also and it plays just like an anamorphic transfer would. Not sure how to explaine it better.

Perhaps someone else can... Josh Z are you out there???

wow took sometime to find this one....

Still, it does not really help that it is not anamorphic though... for those that don't have a player like this.

Original Prince of Darkness(anamorphic), my only 'liquid' devil movie starring Jamison Parker, Donald Pleasence (Halloween), Dirk Blocker (Raise the Titanic) Lisa Blount, the professor also seen in "Jade"1995 as a silver making, chinese domino player and Alice Cooper as a skitzo. Alice Cooper and John Caprpenter together wrote the music for POD.
