The best price that I have seen so far is at Amazon --> $18.89. Combine that with another DVD to get past $25 in order to take advantage of the free shipping (say, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation SE at $13.99 . . . also the lowest that I have seen for this title), and you've got yourself a pretty sweet deal.

I really want to get this, too. I'm thinking that it will probably go on sale when it gets a little closer to the holidays, so I'm going to wait a while. (Same with Christmas Vacation)

Yeah, I got the original as an enrollment several months ago. It's still sealed and I'm going to keep it.

Yeah, same here. About thanksgiving is the time I start getting into the 'gotta watch all these before Christmas' rush. I have the original bare bones version of this film. But ya know, the bare bones doesn't bother me. i grew up watching this every year at christmas on TV. I fell in love with this film as just that, the film. I never saw it in the theaters and to see this film in widescreen (it will be widescreen if im not mistaken?), would just be kind of weird for me. I am totally a 'widescreen' is a must person... i normally won't buy a DVD in full screen if there's widescreen available. With a 32" flatscreen at the foot of my bed there's no reason for me not too. Plus, I'd hate to miss the cropped stuff. But, I've always been happy with the way A Christmas Story was growing up... I'll keep my original film

I have waited for a SE of this for a long time. Back when it was first announced I borrowed my friends barebones copy to refresh my memory I hadn't seen it in a while.

There are only a few cable stations that seem to care about showing movies in OAR without commercials: TCM, FMC (sometimes) and IFC. I suspect Sundance does too, but I don't get it.

I noticed in Target yesterday that they were selling it in a nice little box with a free mini Ralphie bobble-head. Of course, I just received my copy in the mail Saturday, otherwise, I would have bought it.
