The best price that I have seen so far is at Amazon --> $18.89. Combine that with another DVD to get past $25 in order to take advantage of the free shipping (say, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation SE at $13.99 . . . also the lowest that I have seen for this title), and you've got yourself a pretty sweet deal.

Of course, I've barely bought a DVD in the last couple of months, so it's about time.

I really want to get this, too. I'm thinking that it will probably go on sale when it gets a little closer to the holidays, so I'm going to wait a while. (Same with Christmas Vacation)

Same here. I love the flick but I won't be in a mood to watch it until Thanksgiving weekend at the earliest, so there's no rush for me to pick it up.

Yeah, I got the original as an enrollment several months ago. It's still sealed and I'm going to keep it.

Yeah, same here. About thanksgiving is the time I start getting into the 'gotta watch all these before Christmas' rush. I have the original bare bones version of this film. But ya know, the bare bones doesn't bother me. i grew up watching this every year at christmas on TV. I fell in love with this film as just that, the film. I never saw it in the theaters and to see this film in widescreen (it will be widescreen if im not mistaken?), would just be kind of weird for me. I am totally a 'widescreen' is a must person... i normally won't buy a DVD in full screen if there's widescreen available. With a 32" flatscreen at the foot of my bed there's no reason for me not too. Plus, I'd hate to miss the cropped stuff. But, I've always been happy with the way A Christmas Story was growing up... I'll keep my original film

I have waited for a SE of this for a long time. Back when it was first announced I borrowed my friends barebones copy to refresh my memory I hadn't seen it in a while.

C'mon now . . . when is a TV viewing of a movie EVER better than a DVD? You can only watch it at a specific time, the audio and video quality are inferior (maybe not on an HD channel, but definitely on TNT), you have to sit through commercials, you can't pause, scan, rewind, etc . . . and, most importantly . . . no special features!

Definitely worth the purchase (my pre-order is already in     ).

Don't forget the wonderful TNT logos and over-the-picture adverts on the full screen presentation.

There are only a few cable stations that seem to care about showing movies in OAR without commercials: TCM, FMC (sometimes) and IFC. I suspect Sundance does too, but I don't get it.

I saw A Christmas Story on TCM back in July. It was in OAR and had beautiful vibrant color rather than the washed out version seen on TNT. It's definitely worth it!

And no commercials. Well, one.

I noticed in Target yesterday that they were selling it in a nice little box with a free mini Ralphie bobble-head. Of course, I just received my copy in the mail Saturday, otherwise, I would have bought it.
