MGM's for sale-who's buying?
I have read that both Sony Pictures and Warner Brother's are interested. With over 4000 movies in there faults and the owners of the James Bond franchise-they have alot to offer.I hope who ever buys keeps the MGM name and The Midnite Movies intact.

I expect if it is Sony/Columbia or Warner, we can say goodbye to nice prices on catalog titles and the Midnite movie double features.

Warner owns ALL of the MGM cartoons via Turner. The reason few of them have been released to DVD has to do with restoration and remastering.
Warner has been doing double features recently, so I don't know why they wouldn't continue with the MGM catalog. They're doing two Marx Bros. doubles and have done double-features for House of Wax/Mystery of the Wax Museum, Jekyll & Hyde (1931/1941), Gaslight (1940/1944), the Lon Chaney triple feature 2-discer... I think the two Buster Keaton silents they own will be a double-feature later this year, too (since they'd fit on a DVD-9 or DVD-10).
About prices... most of Warner's DVD's cost $20 or less for catalog titles. Titles like The Haunting and House of Wax only cost about $11-$14 depending on where you buy.
To be honest, Warner owning MGM would be good (although, they should make sure they hire all of MGM's preservation and restoration people) for the films... Perhaps MGM DVD could be made the label for their classic releases only.
