Upgrade to the 3-disc Black Hawk Down?

Like many of you, I have the original Black Hawk Down. Is the upgrade worth doing? What about the 3 disc version makes it worth it? Is there really 3 discs worth of stuff, or is the material stretched across 3 discs to make it look like more? I'm looking to be convinced that the upgrade is worth it.

Same goes for Windtalkers? What kind of extra's could take up 3 discs for this film? Just looking for opinions...

I was disapointed with the Windtalkers 3 disc, both with the film and with the extras, so not worth the upgrade IMHO. Black hawk Down on the other hand is a perfect example of what a quality SE should be, the extras are outstanding. In fact it should be in the running for DVD of the year.

The 2 documentaries, especially the PBS one, is worth the price alone. The PBS documentary is much like the book, as it goes to describe the surronding atmosphere and how political decisions led to the fiasco. (not allowing armor, mission creep, etc.) Read the book, it is great.

If you appreciate the movie at all, this should be a no-brainer. The extras have substance and provide an incredible amount of information and historical context.

I have a better question. Is it worth getting a non-R1 version for [allegedly] better sound? http://www.dvdcompare.org.uk/compari...e.php?fid=2136

it is 100% worth every penny you pay for it. This is one of the best SEs there are... Easily up there with LOTR:EE's

Just got the 3-disc version from CH and dumped the old one one eBay . . . didn't cover the total cost, but made it a pretty cheap upgrade. I would definitely recommend the switch . . .

What advantage does the CH one have? And how do you get it?

The Ranger commentary is worth the price of admission.

You get marginal improvement and you lose the commentary tracks. No thanks.

The main and only advantage of the CH copy is the price. I got mine from CH for only $6.79. The disadvantage is they ship media mail.

What I meant was that I bought it through the Columbia House DVD Club. It's the same 3-disc DVD as anywhere else. Am I missing something?
