Spartacus Criterion Edition

Is this worth picking up? I absolutely loved the film, is it much better than the regular release? This was one of only 2 films by Director Stanley Kubrick that I would want in my collection. The other? 2001: A Space Odyssey(which needs an upgrade).
Can someone tell me the differences between the two sets?

Criterion has a bunch of great extras... if you "absolutely loved the film", get the Criterion.

Piling on the chorus. With consideration if you're lukewarm on the film(the set is that good!) and I'd say it's must have if you "really loved it". But with confidence, but shop around. I know it retails in the 45-50 range, but you might find it for less than 40 online somewhere. Great buy.

Besides extras, the transfer on the Criterion is much better as well. It had the input of Robert Harris, one of the men who restored the film.

I don't even like the movie, and I own the Criterion. I'm a bit of a completist, and a huge fan of Stanley Kubrick. You do the math.

Dude, if you love this film, it's a sure fire no brainer upgrade. A new anamorphic transfer and extras out the wazoo, it's a great DVD. The old Universal disc is a joke.

This is a re-release I wouldn't hesitate buying, but since the original disc sucked ass, most people were buying it for the first time as a Criterion.

just don't let your wife catch you wearing a skirt and sandals and posing in the living room.
