Guesses for upcoming Superbits??

Anybody have any guesses on what the next couple batches of Superbit titles might be? Of course Spider-Man will be one but I'm sure they'll wait until Spider-Man 2 comes out.

How about The Devil's Own, Donnie Brasco, Easy Rider, The Big Blue, The Natural, Taxi Driver, U-Turn?

Just come suggestions. But I'm sure they'll give us some crap like Urban Legends 1 & 2 Superbits.

Lovitz 09-19-03 05:42 PM

High School High Superbit :D

Sergio Perez-More 09-19-03 06:05 PM

Godzilla (R1) (DTS)

Can't wait.

ctyler 09-19-03 06:58 PM

First Knight and Memento.

Neeb 09-19-03 10:45 PM

Gigli
Underworld

Has Columbia released anything else which sucked lately?

Please, all of them, please.

If you really want to make me happy, make them double features, with the dub cut versions on one disc, and the original Japanese on another.

only a "in a perfect world" type guess...more so a fantasy. Papillion.

Godzilla (R1) (DTS)

How about Cliffhanger?

Cosmic Bus 09-19-03 11:45 PM

Mike Nichols' Wolf and Carpenter's Christine would both be awesome candidates for the Superbit treatment, IMO.

DavidH 09-20-03 12:16 AM

Donnie Brasco and The Natural I would like to see.

atari2600 09-20-03 12:18 AM

doesnt someone have to add good burger? isnt that a rule or something?

DonnachaOne 09-20-03 12:29 AM

Let's be rational about this... runners, it's only Columbia titles.

And it's usually (but not limited to) second-tier Columbia/Tristar action titles that could do with a sales boost, or an older release which is due for SE treatment (which they decide it won't get!)/redux. Stuff that could benefit from surround.

In the future, I reckon we'll see the following as Superbit.

Basic
Cliffhanger
Bad Boys II
Close Encounters Of The Third Kind
Double Team
Final Fantasy
First Knight
Ghostbusters
In The Line Of Fire
Mary Shelley's Frankenstein
Once Upon A Time In China
The Replacement Killers
Darkness Falls

I think we'll see a couple from that list in the near future: though I think this kind of list is futile - we're always surprised by Superbit choices, and we always have issues with them...

Matthew Chmiel 09-20-03 01:58 AM

Could Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Memento have Superbit releases? There are already releases out with both DD and DTS. Then again, I take that back. They put out a Superbit of The Mask of Zorro.

Quinty 09-20-03 03:11 AM

Columbia should release these as Superbits soon :

Spider-Man
Cliffhanger
The 6th Day
Final Fantasy
In The Line Of Fire
Godzilla
The Replacement Killers
Bad Boys 2
Tears Of The Sun
First Knight
Darkness Falls
Charlie's Angels : Full Throttle
Terminator 3 (For Region 02)
Basic
SWAT (After Special Edition Release)
Glory
I Spy

Good Burger and of course Babe.

DonnachaOne 09-20-03 11:27 AM

I'm noticing several parallels between my choices and Quinty's... perhaps it's more obvious than I thought.

milo bloom 09-20-03 11:33 AM

The only thing CE3K has on it's movie disc that Superbit doesn't is motion menus. It already has DD and DTS, it's practically a SB anyways.

Robert 09-20-03 11:48 AM

I can't believe no one has mentioned Wild Things!

Here you can find out what those who do not have access to a region free dvd player are missing out on.

Well, not quite. Superbit movies generally yield some extra detail because the typical filtering process that takes place on most movies is not applied to the same degree with Superbits.

PatrickMcCart 09-20-03 02:10 PM

The Bridge on the River Kwai is a likely one. The current DVD is fantastic, but I wouldn't be surprised if Columbia did a Superbit.

JJE-187 09-20-03 03:17 PM

I wouldn't doubt Gigli getting a Supebit release. Columbia/Tri Star probally aren't gonna put in extras on it (except maybe the J.Lo video) & they could price it a few bucks higher if they call it a Superbit instead of just a Bare Bones release (like they did with Panic Room)

True Lies.... starring the..... Governor?

The Superbit name is owned by Columbia Tristar.
