Anyone else unable to play their DVD of VERTIGO (1st release - orange cover)? This DVD worked perfectly the first few times I played it (several months ago), but now it won't load up at all in either my DVD player or Computer DVD drive. Do I have any recourse other than buying a new copy of the movie?

Played perfectly the last time I checked (~ 4 months or so ago). I'll give it a spin over the weekend and report back.

I played my orange-cover version a couple of months ago and it seemed to work ok.

It's been quite a while since I spun the disc. But, all the times I played it, there were no problems.

Report... I'm spinning it right now, no problems at all. Checked it on a Panasonic RP-62 and an older Sony 330.

Both VERTIGO and PSYCHO original editions will not play in my Jaton all region player. They work fine on my other DVD players.
Not sure why this happened. Older Universal titles (Scarface, Blues Brothers) played perfectly on the Jaton. If you feel the need to buy them over again, Wal-mart has PSYCHO and VERTIGO for $14.44 each.

I guess it serves me right waiting 5 months before checking my "orange" vertigo, but mine has gone Tango Uniform also. It isn't recognized as a DVD in any of my 3 players. Figures...this is my all-time favorite movie.

Anyway, did you try to get a replacement from Universal? If so, any success? (I just wrote them but I'm not holding my breath for an answer.) Wish they could be convinced into doing this title right...it really deserves a 16x9 transfer.

sounds like "DVD rot"

My first Gladiator disc did that as well.
I bought a new one and didn't have problems since.
