any chance of a Touch of Evil Special edition?

From what i hear, there are no special features on the dvd unless you want to read the 56 page memo. Are there any documentaries on the film that could be on this dvd, maybe via seamless branching, maybe they could also put the original mangled universal version. or a commentary from Ebert would be nice also.

or am i just going to have to buy this anyway.

Universal definitely dropped the ball with this one. There was a documentary that was originally planned for the DVD called "Reconstructing Evil" that wasn't included because of "legal reasons". I think Charlton Heston and Janet Leigh recorded commentaries, which were also dropped. And if any critic were to record a commentary it would have to be Jonathan Rosenbaum, not f'ing Ebert! They should have included the original version, without a doubt.

Despite all of that, you should buy the current version. It's one of the best movies ever made.

I would love to see a special edition. I can't believe how many cool DVDs have been blocked due to "legal reasons".

It's all because of Welle's evil daughter.

I'd love to see a double-feature DVD including both cuts of the film, but I'm holding my breath for it. Given that we're talking about Universal, I'm surprised the current disc is as good as it is. Excellent transfer.
