I could care less....the only time I care about floating heads is when EVERY dang teen slasher movie has the same exact cover design...the kids floating heads on the cover. WHY?

Floating heads = NO SALE

I'm optimistic they will release a non-floating head version in a few years, I'd rather wait.

People go nuts around here over the most non-important stuff, including floating heads and inserts.

Gives me pause, at most. Geez, that Real Genius cover really needs to go, though.

Whilst it can be mildly irritating how it can affect peoples decision to purchase it if they are fans of the actual film itself is beyond me.

Doesn't bother me. What bothers me is when they completly change original GOOD existing artowkr for older movies such as The Goonies, Better Off Dead and Real Genius.

I'm with you atari2600. I mean, it's not the big floating heads even appear in the movie that way. Unless of course that movie is Zardoz.

While I don't base my decisions for buying on the cover, I do think it's rather silly that studios go to the effort and expense when they had perfectly fine theatrical posters and even previous VHS and LD release covers that were far better.

It really doesn't bother me either. While I appreciate a well done dvd cover (Fear and Loathing: CC) I could really care less as long as the rest of the disc is up to snuff. I also could care less about inserts, although I also like them when there is actually something of interest on them (like Throne of Blood: CC subtitle essays)

I don't care. I appreciate it (for about 5 seconds or so) when a release has an especially well done/interesting cover, pay no attention at all when it doesn't.

When the actors heads appear on the cover art, with no bodies. In essence "floating heads". Usually annoying because they replace the original movie poster art with a huge head or profile of, say, Tom Cruise.

The cover of a DVD has very little impact on me, probably none at all, as long as the DVD itself is quality, what does it matter what the cover looks like, it will go into my Rack and all I will see is the spine.

I don't pay much attention to the covers unless it's really horrid our really gorgeous. As long as the movie is in there, I'm just not all that concerned.

Well, if that's your pet peeve, there ain't much DVD you'll buy. I usually don't really care what's on the cover, unless the actor's head's bigger than the DVD case *pianist*, which makes it really really annoying, and leads to a no buy.

You mean when the head actually overlaps the side of the case, and has to be bent over to fit into your bookshelf with the other DVD's?!?

I had never heard of the term "floating heads" before it seemed to become a huge problem around here . I think it's just a lack of creativity - and mostly, a way to sell a movie based on the cover... OMG! The new CARROT TOP movie!!! *throws fistful of money at cashier*

I've never actually been in a situation where I said "this cover art sucks, I'm not buying the dvd". The cover art doesn't affect my buying the movie whatsoever--it's just nice to have a good looking cover to put up on the Now Showing display. I may hate some of the "big head" or "floating head" covers that the studios are churning out nowadays, but all I really care about is that shiny disc inside the case.
