My collection only lacks genres that don't interest me:

War/Military
Western
Foreign
Anime

There are probably others, but those are the only ones that come to mind.

I have a few action and sci-fi DVDs, but just a few.

If I'm lacking any, to me that implies that something is missing from my collection. But it's my collection, and my rules... nothing's missing.

not really...but I'm lacking titles within those genres. example....my nunsploitation and swashbuckling sections are looking thin. it's just a matter of time though. except for those MIA's...my library has a strong foundation.

When organizing my folders on DVD Aficionado, I was surprised that I only owned only one standalone documentary.

I have no chick flicks but this will soon be rectified since I preordered "Gigli" as soon as Ben and JLo announced they were doind the movie together.

My skimmest genre, according to Guzzlefish, is Sports/Recreation. I have only Dogtown & Z-Boys and The Ultimate Jordan (which I got way before it went OOP ).

I'd like to get more documentaries and more westerns.

Westerns, and comedies. I wish they would make good releases of Wyatt Earp and Young Guns II, damnit!

I'm missing anime and musicals, unless you would consider The Wall a musical.

I never liked musicals or anime.

Some genres are not well represented in my collection, like Foreign or Westerns.

Comedies are over represented in my collection, but that's ok.

I think if you're lacking genres and you consider yourself a film lover then you probably owe it to yourself to check out ones that are considered among the best in those genres. Just go pick something from the AFI list.

Atari, you have nothing that falls under "classics"? That's kind of a wide category to just ignore. I think the main reason some people, including myself don't watch a lot of older movies is that it's hard to appreciate something that you've seen get copied from so many times. Go buy Casablanca or something.

Westerns - although I should add "The Wild Bunch" and "Once Upon A Time in the West" (soon to be released) to my collection.
