My blind buys:
24
The best24: Season 2 (also blind buy, can't wait)
The Shield: So-So, not worthy of the hype I have watched 24:season 1 twice and can't seem to finish the Shield
Highlander: Season 1 Hit or miss, but that is what I hear with fans. One ep. is great but the next may blow goat chunks.
Stargate: SG-1 (sorta blind buy) I saw the first 6 ep. back when they first aired 6-7 years ago. Hadn't seen any since. Loved those few so I got s.4 tonight.
I am dying to get Alias, but with ER, NYPDBlue, Stargate, and 24, my plate is full right now.

I rarely watch TV anymore, but I've made some great blind buys:
Angel • Buffy • Clerks: The Animated Series • Coupling • The Dead Zone
Felicity • Futurama • Sex and the City • Sports Night • The West Wing
If I wind up with one I don't like, I'll get my money back by selling it on eBay.

Got into Buffy and Angel blind, and those are some of my most-watched DVDs.

My TV-on-DVD collection is growing a whole heck of a lot faster than my movies-on-DVD.
DVD Blind Buys: 24, Babylon 5, Coupling (UK), Farscape, Felicity, Homicide: Life on the Streets, My So-Called Life, Once and Again, Oz, The Prisoner, Sex and the City, The Shield, The Sopranos, Spooks (UK, aka MI-5), and Xena.
Only two purchases I didn't absolutely love (The Prisoner and Felicity--the former felt like it had too much filler, the latter I plan to finish, eventually, but it didn't knock me off my feet), but even those I'll probably rewatch in the future.
I'm actually less worried about TV blind buys than I am about movie blind buys--I can take my time getting to them, with less fear of a price drop cutting the resale value if I end up not liking them.

I also got into Buffy & Angel blind, and these probably ended up being the most beloved DVDs in my collection.
Same with 24 and Alias, though to a lesser extent.
I humbly suggest skipping Smallville and going straight to Alias.

Next up, after I get through Angel S2, I'm considering either Smallville or Alias.

I've been really lucky with TV show dvds... I had bought The Shield, 24, Alias, Mr. Show, Sex & the City, Sports Night and the Sopranos without having ever seen an episode of them before... Now most of them are regular viewing and I will continue to buy the season sets as they are released... I love love love TV on dvd.

I picked up 24 season 1 sight unseen and could not stop watching it! Every free minute I got I watched it to the point where I even had it on my PC while I was "working"! Can't wait to pick up season 2 and hopefully finish before season 3 airs so I can watch it as well.

Oh...if I thought DVDs were crack before, TV on DVD has really upped the ante.
I have collected a lot of series on DVD, but have really enjoyed finding new series that way.
I've gotten into Angel, Futurama (saw a few eps before, but not many), Family Guy and I just picked up Alias. I've been renting Dark Angel, but I like that enough that I'll probably pick that up. I'm sure Best Buy will do one of their "buy both seasons and save $10" sales when season 2 of DA comes out in Oct.
I do have Tivo and love being able to catch up on shows (I travel for work and am gone all the time). Still, it's so much cooler to be able to carry the discs with me and watch the eps while I'm out of town. The only problem is I'm working through 3 different shows' seasons right now and I have quite a few more to get to. It's going to be a couple of weeks until I can actually start watching Alias and Angel s2. Then there's that large stack of movies I like watching......
Oh, almost forgot! I caught Six Feet Under on DVD (rented since it's $80 for only 13 eps.....a little more than I want to pay for half a season) and that was a fantastic show. Can't wait for season 2 to come out.

You guys just don't watch enough television.
Angel was my only TV show set blind buy, but I was a regular Buffy watcher (Angel must've been up against something else I regularly watched when it started, so I had never watched an episode before even though I was a Buffy fan at the time) so that wasn't as big of a stretch as it could've been. And I have enjoyed Angel: Season 1 and will be picking up S2 at some point. And I do like being able to watch as many episodes as I like and not having to wait until the next week to see a new one (as well as the whole "no commercials" thing), though there is something to be said for the build-up of excitement during the week while waiting for an episode to come on (this is more the case with shows like 24, Buffy or Alias that have continuing story arcs over the course of a season. Not so much true for something like Friends)
The rest of the sets I've bought (Buffy, Mr. Show, The Simpsons, Futurama, etc.) were shows I watched regularly (and some others mentioned here: Sports Night, Smallville, Alias, 24, Family Guy, South Park, etc., were must-see television for me, as well).
Of course, somebody has to watch the shows or they won't make it far enough to get to DVD (something that has happened to quite a few shows I once watched).

I don't own any DVD's of television shows (flame away). I have almost 40 Season Passes of television shows on my 2 Directivos. During the television season, I spend most of my spare time watching shows I've recorded. When I'm not doing that I'm watching movies. I'd never even have time to watch a series on DVD.

Doctor Who!!
Buffy, Stargate, Farscape, Avengers, The Saint, Highlander, Andromeda, Baretta and Angel have all been blind buys for me and I love them. Im way to lazy to figure out when shows are on and watch them, I love being able to watch the series on my own time and not worring about missing an episode.
Next I am going to try either 24 or Babylon 5
Tv shows on DVD are coming out so fast now... I can't keep track, I was at Best Buy and saw all kinds of new shows, even Beastmaster Season1... I didn't even know there was a Beastmaster TV show!!

The Buffy and Angel sets were the best blind buys I ever made.
I can't really say that I'll watch the season over and over again but the price is still worth it for the quality of the shows. I just now finished Angel Season 2. It was a hell of a season and I look forward to more.
My life doesn't really allow me to watch TV during "normal" hours so TV on DVD is the best thing ever.

I just finished my first month with no DirecTV. My reception is very bad so I don't have much in the realm of basic TV either. I don't miss it. I've started collecting all my fav TV shows and 'Made for TV' movies on DVD. Thank you BBC and others.

"I'm probably going to cancel my cable television altogether soon and just stick with TV on DVD."
That's what I did 2 years ago and I have never looked back.

Thanks Blade!

Thanks to him, I spent another $110 or so buying seasons 2 and 3 from eBay. Damn him! He purposely let me borrow it so I would buy it from him and then spend more money on the other seasons!

A side note. While watching 24 Season 2, I noticed that most of the commercial breaks are 4 minutes or longer (calculated from the timers before and after the breaks). I am just glad that I bought the show instead of following it on Fox. I am now waiting for the West Wing on DVD.
