Weird Al Yankovic the Videos to be re-released in 5.1! "Most likely" a Nov. release

From the horse's mouth himself:
Randy of Albuquerque, NM asks: I have been trying to find the DVD called “‘Weird Al’ Yankovic: The Videos” and I understand it is out of print. Will it be available in the future?

The bad news is, yes, that particular item has in fact gone out of print and will most likely remain in that condition for the rest of eternity. The good news is, we’re currently putting the finishing touches on a brand-spanking-new and completely up-to-date DVD called “The Ultimate Collection.” It will have 24 of my music videos, plus a photo gallery, on-screen lyrics and 5.1 surround sound. And we’ve even “cleaned up” some of the older videos a little bit – they look great. Anyway, we’re trying to rush-release this for a September 22 street date in Australia. The North American release will most likely be sometime in November.

Nice

All you people hoarding the "old" dvd to sell on eBay at an outrageous price, read it and weep.

Does anyone wish he would have a disc of videos paired with the videos that he is parodying?

You get the jokes so much better & it makes the videos even funnier. It actually makes the original videos funny (which I am sure they were not intended to be).

I remember way back around 15 years ago or so that the USA network would do this. You don't know how funny it is until you watch Beat It & then Eat It or Bad and then Fat. Good stuff.

Hello...

Does anyone know if the same videos from the first release will appear on the second release? I know he said 24 videos, but some of the old ones may be replaced.

I think i will hold on to my original, however, because last time i sold a rare dvd on ebay because of a new release, the company cancelled the release -- and it has been over 2 years now......**cough** orgazmo **cough**... Haha...

Thanks,

Matt

I'm not sure if this has to do with this new re-release but my pre-order for the old re-release with DVDEmpire was just cancelled.

It may sound weird but this might actually be good news

Of course all of the videos from the original release will be included - all of the videos he has done will be on there.

According to his official site, he has done 23 videos, from Ricky (his first, in 1983) to The Saga Begins and It's All About the Pentiums (in 1999) - including the opening sequence to the film Spy Hard (which is also on the original release). So according to his count of 24, that means there will be one more video not listed on that page that will be included. I assume it'll be Bob, which he did for his latest Al-TV special, which aired on VH1 earlier this summer.

As for getting rid of the original release, there really is no reason I can think of to keep it, unless the new release includes just the remixed 5.1 tracks and not the original audio tracks. I, however, will be keeping the original release no matter what, for one simple reason. It was the first DVD I ever bought (this January will be 5 years!) so it has a sentimental value to me.

And November 4 gets even more expensive.

THE ULTIMATE VIDEO COLLECTION!
Ever wish you could have all 24 “Weird Al” Yankovic music videos on one DVD, complete with a Photo Gallery, On-Screen Lyrics, 5.1 Surround Sound, and more? Well, my friend, sometimes dreams do come true. “The Ultimate Video Collection” will be released on November 4 in North America (and on October 9 in Australia.)

I wish Al would grow his moustache back & start wearing glasses again. He just doesn't seem as weird without them.
