How bad are the cuts on A Room with a View?
I've got an Amazon gift certificate to spend, and about the only movie I don't have that I want is A Room With a View. I've been holding off because I heard that the dvd had some scenes cut from it--does anyone know about these cuts? Also, is there going to be a newer release? Maybe I should just buy some Calphalon and get the dvd later. . .
Thanks for any info,

I haven't seen the movie in a long, long time - but from what I remember there were a few scenes of full-frontal male nudity - so maybe that's what is cut. If so, I don't see why - it may have been mildly controversial at the time (1986), but isn't that big of a deal nowadays. Also, I believe those scenes were intact on the vhs release.
Of course it may be something completely different, I'm just guessing off the top of my head.

I think you're talking about the bathing scene (which I thought was hilarious and would be very annoyed to have cut.) I may look into this more--I just noticed that several reviews at Amazon lamented how the film was cut, but I didn't see any that said which scenes were missing. The DVDtalk review has no mention of cuts, but that may just mean the reviewer didn't know about the missing part(s). Thanks,

I saw this posted in a newsgroup from a few years ago.
I wonder if the R2 is uncut. I think it has a different aspect ratio, 1.78:1 as opposed to the 1.85:1 R1. The IMDB lists the film's AR as 1.66:1 for whatever that's worth.
On my copy of the new "A Room With a View" DVD from Image Entertainment, I noticed there is a scene that has been cut short.
In the hotel after Lucy and George have kissed, Lucy and Miss Bartlett
are discussing what to do about the situation.
Most of that scene is on the DVD, but there is a part in this scene
where Lucy tells Miss Bartlett that she will not tell her mother about
the kiss, and Miss Bartlett says they will both be as silent as the
grave.
This is only about 30 seconds, but it is gone. Has anyone else
familar with the film noticed this omission?
Does anyone have contact information for Image Entertainment?
Thanks for any help.
