Help me work out my collection!
Take a look at my collection (link below) and tell me not only what titles your suggest that I add (any genre). But also look at my wishlist and tell me what titles there I should dump. Alnd also just tell me overall what you think of my beginning set.
Here is the list: http://www.dvdaficionado.com/dvds.ht...1&id=homerun31
Now keep in mind I am just starting out.

If you've got Adaptation on your wish list (which I didn't really care for upon first viewing; I've yet to watch it again), I think you should try Being John Malkovich if you haven't already.
That's really the only thing that I saw that you may enjoy based on the movies you already had listed.

Actually I was never going to actually "dump" movies. It was rather a term. Thanks for the suggestions and yes I do like Spielberg; I own ALL the movies he has directed on DVD that have been released including Duel.

Ok, heres suggestions, you are seriously lacking in the foreign category so forgive me if my list is heavily foreign:
Lawrence of Arabia
Do the Right Thing
Seven Samurai
Rashomon
The Seventh Seal
8 ½
Breathless
Annie Hall
Fight Club
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Shawshank Redemption
A Clockwork Orange
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
The Terminator
The Godfather Collection
Your favorite James Bond film (if you don't have a favorite, find a favorite)
Barton Fink
Fargo
Pulp Fiction
Chasing Amy
You asked for it you got it
Come back when you've seen all those for more.

If you want to dump some movies, send me Forrest Gump, the Goonies, E.T., and 1941.
Finish your Kubrick collection. Clockwork Orange and Full Metal Jacket being the ones you should get first.

It is really a personal preference depending on what types of movies you like. I noticed you didn't have many horror flicks. I am a big horror movie fan but you may not be.
Anyway, here is some of my thoughts:
You can't have 2001 A Space Odyssey without 2010.
Another vote for Fight Club, Pulp Fiction, The Godfather, LOTR
The Alien Triology (coming in November 2003) is awesome
Apocalypse Now Redux, Hannibal/Silence of the Lambs/Manhunter
I can go on but you should ask yourself what you would like then start to prioritize those which you want. My list is about 235 dvds long and I nibble away at it every week.
Good luck!

Sorry, I can't offer any suggestions because our taste in films are pretty different. I would end up suggesting getting rid of over half of those titles... and I don't think that is very helpful.

I would say the rest of Kubrick's movies. If you like 1941 you should check out Catch-22. And last but certainly not least a Coen Brothers' movie or two rounds out any collection. Oh, and Hitchcock. Gotta have Hitchcock.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit -- Where the heck is it? With your love for Zemeckis & Speilberg I'm baffled that it is not even on your wish list.
About Schmidt -- try Election; it is Payne's best film to date IMO.
For Love of the Game -- I think Bull Durham is Costner's best baseball film.
Adam Sandler -- have you seen Punch-Drunk Love? If you like that, you might want to check out Magnolia.
Ghostbusters -- how about Groundhog Day as well?
Apollo 13 -- you have a lot of sci-fi, here is a gripping film based on a true incident.
