I loved me some Hudson Hawk heh. I only have it on VHS though. I would honestly consider buying it on DVD Though, for like 9.99 or something..

Darren Garrison 08-25-03 08:48 AM

None.

marty888 08-25-03 08:49 AM

I have Cleopatra, and the only other one on the list that I would consider is probably Heaven's Gate.

F For Fake 08-25-03 08:53 AM

I've seen them all except "Town & Country" and "Pluto Nash", and I own none of them, thank god.

Currently just Battlefield Earth, but I really loved Hudson Hawk so it is on my list to get and I will probably eventually grab a couple of the others as well... I keep considering Pluto Nash, but I think it'll have to be dirt cheap.

Bricks II 08-25-03 10:22 AM

0, but I did see Battlefield Earth in the theater. I'm so ashamed. . . :o

Cartload 08-25-03 10:27 AM

None, and the only one I've seen is "Battlefield Earth" two years ago on HBO.

sykotic 08-25-03 10:27 AM

0 with no interest in adding any soon.

shill66 08-25-03 10:28 AM

Only The Postman. Which I like.

Kube 08-25-03 10:29 AM

Did Hudson Hawk wind up making some money but it was just perceived as a failure? Like Water World?

DouglasRobert 08-25-03 10:38 AM

On DVD, I own Cleopatra and Battlefield Earth.

I actually like Cleopatra. Great battle scenes and an epic feel.

Battlefield Earth is bad by any stretch of the imagination.

I'm surprised that Hook isn't listed. I owned that on LD once. I couldn't see what Spielberg spent close to $100 million on. Cheap special effects, bad acting, supposed include pirates and boats, but all the boats was always shown in a very bad & cheap looking set. Maybe the $ went into Spielberg's vault instead of the movie.

I also once owned Howard the Duck on LD. Got rid of that a while ago. What a stupid idea for a movie. And that really bad "rock" song at the end. What was Lucas smoking when he thought of making that bomb?

sracer 08-25-03 10:40 AM

None... but I want Cleopatra and Hudson Hawk.

Decker 08-25-03 10:44 AM

I bought Cleopatra when it came out, but returned it unopened a few weeks later. It sounded like a good DVD set, but I wasn't really into watching it.

Poor Warren Beatty. I'm a big fan of his and he's in two of the ten biggest flops ever (and the guy only made six films in the past twenty-five years). I saw both those movies in the theater opening weekend and I rather enjoyed both of them (at least a little).

6.Cleopatra $44mil ($259m today) - $26mil ($139m today)

I want Hawk though.

Cornelius1047 08-25-03 10:56 AM

Wow, I'm surprised so many people own Battlefield Earth. Who cares if it was a bomb? But one of the reasons it was a bomb was that it was almost the worst movie ever made, IMO. I can't believe there are people that actually like it. (Or think it's bad, but still own the DVD.) To each their own though. I'm sure every movie has its fans. Hmm, I wonder if there actually is any movie that absolutely nobody involved with the making likes. And relatives don't count. "Yes, Rob, dear, North was a wonderful movie. Bruce in a big pink bunny suit is very entertaining."

The only movies on the list that I've seen are Howard The Duck (hardly remember it since it was so long ago, but do remember it being mostly pretty lame, but far from the worst movie ever) and Battlefield Earth (I'm still bargaining with God to get that time back). I own none of them on DVD and don't really plan on doing so. Not sure if I'll ever see any of the other ones, as none of them really interest me outside of morbid curiosity, but who knows.

Just Cleopatra, which I haven't watched yet. I got it as a blind buy at Columbia House, so I'm out very little if I don't like it.

Out of the others, I've seen the following:

10.Hudson Hawk $60+ mil - $16 mil: Mediocre, but watchable (once)
9.Ishtar $55mil - $17.2 mil: Very boring
5.Heaven's Gate $44mil - 3mil: I forget this movie completely
4.The Postman $80-$100mil - $17.6 mil: Pretty bad, but watchable. The book was excellent, so I was pretty disappointed this wasn't better.
3.Town & Country $85-$90mil - $6.7mil: Terrible movie--worst one on the list, IMHO.

A movie's actual quality has little-to-nothing to do with its box office success. Hook cost $70 mil and grossed $120 mil in the US alone. That's not a bomb.

JimRochester 08-25-03 11:17 AM

Cleopatra and CutThroat Island

DeputyDave 08-25-03 11:22 AM

None. But I would own Cutthroat Island and Postman.
